Anyone else wondering at the lack of media coverage of the protests?

It's no surprise at all, since most of the mainstream media is basically in
Wall Street's back pocket. And the last thing the MSM would want
to do is show the honest, uncensored footage of the women protesters
getting maced. That might generate sympathy towards the peaceful
protesters, and Wall Street sure as hell doesn't want that.

Meanwhile...

AN NYPD OFFICER WHO MACED PEACEFUL PROTESTERS
HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED...

There has been plenty of media coverage, at least in NY.

Sorry if this comes off as callous, but no wonder many of these folks don't have jobs. I walk by them on my commute almost every day. It might help, if you take the bone out of your nose, brush your hair, take a shower, stop dying your hair purple, red and orange, pull up your pants, stop showing you underwear.... and go look for a job and stop camping in a park and blaming all of your ills on someone else.

The NYPD is doing a good job. In a city of however many millions of people, they can't afford to have several hundred people, who are being disorderly (not all of them) marching up to Union Square from Wall Street without a permit.

These people hate Goldman, Morgan Stanley and others who got a bail out, but at least those guys gave the public a 20%+ return on their money. Maybe they ought to go camp out in front of that solar company that took $500mm and then just pleaded the 5th.

Good point regarding their appearance and behavior. The truth can be callous sometimes.

No, we are still giving money to companies that are stealing.

If you are so distrustful of the Wall Street gangsters, why did you put your money in a 401k?

Truthfully, right now, anyone who has a job making fun of someone who doesn't comes off pretty callous. Have you talked to any of those people? Any of them lose a job to a layoff or an outsource?

So, there actually may be something to protest about?

I am not making fun of them, as I will most likely be in their spot soon unfortunately. I am being critical though. There is a problem in this country, and its not just Wall Street. And these folks have no interest in talking; I tried. They are interested in shouting at me and have zero time to actually have a rational convesation.

And if they lose a job to layoff or outsourcing, then what? I lost my job a few years ago, after the whole dot.com bust. I didn't blame a whole industry. I lost another job after the Enron fiasco; I didn't blame the energy industry or a pack of fraudsters.

At some point, we have to take personal responsibility. Did Wall Street F up? Yes. Does it help when people go for an interview and show up with purple and orange hair, an earing through their nose, they don't speak english very well even though they are from this country, they have their underwear showing, etc? No, that doesn't help their cause, especially in times like this when the landscape is so competitive.

Sure, but that doesn't mean you can just go running through the streets of NYC without a permit and being disorderly (in terms of conduct).

All of the money is funneling up and staying there. Whether it's on Wall Street or any Main Street, the current course is breeding anger and unrest no matter who is specifically responsible for it. It's not specifically you, it's what Wall Street represents. That's how it always works. They aren't mad at you, they're mad at the idea of you. Is that right or fair? Probably not at all.

I've been out of subprime financial services coming up on five years and I have in-laws who still judge me for it...and they actually make more money than I did then or now!

Eventually we run out of jobs and the bubbles that fuel their creation? Then what?

Obviously I'm not there, but it seems like there is quite the mix of people from the pictures I've seen.

Then the NYPD should put people in mesh cages and pepper spray them anyway. Stuff like that only fuels the fire.

The protesters and their methods do absolutely nothing to convey any sort of message other than they are a bunch of misguided, uninformed idiots, whether or not they actually are that.

Depending on one's own point-of-view, could one say that about any type of protester?

Perhaps, but particularly so in this case. They are almost akin to a naked girl in a cage or a man in a fish suit at a PETA rally. More or less a caricature of the very issue to which they wish to address and actually do nothing but highlight themselves as a mob of fools.

People are pissed, man. This stuff is going to continue, no matter how foolish others think the angry ones are.

yes, really. This guy is a moron for doing this, but for the most part, the NYPD is doing a fine job. Quite frankly, this guy doesn't seem too smart for pulling this when everyone and their grandmother have smart phones and video cameras. And now, we get into a tit for tat scenario where the protestors have not only posted his phone number, but also his family members names and his last known residences.

I guess to Bhawk's point: People are pissed, and this stuff is going to continue, no matter how foolish others think the angry ones are.

I did not, my employer did as a "benefit"

the point I was making and was missed, is that the Wall Street Robber Barons got their bailout, but not the people that they hurt.

That is one reason for these protests.

I'd actually like to see less media coverage of most protests. With the BART protests in the San Francisco Bay Area, there are actually more media reporters there than protesters. In most cases, the point has already been made and the horse beaten to death and there is no need for continued media coverage.

Again, no personal responsibility on the part of the people buying the home or whatever consumption item it might have been? Some guy in a suit came out, pointed the gun at their heads and said, "you buy this fcker or else I am pulling the trigger?"

Again, I am not exempting WS from wrong doing, however I think there is plenty of negligence on the part of the consumer too.

The guy in a suit kept his job and got a sweet bonus. The other guy got foreclosed on.
