From Jambands.com:

Looking ahead, Allman has confirmed a New Year’s Eve show at Newkirk, Oklahoma’s First Council Casino. He will also perform at
Thackerville, Oklahoma ‘s Winstar Casino on January 1 as well as Montgomery, Alabama’s Montgomery Performing Arts Center on January 11. He is expected to add some additional dates in the coming weeks.

If you want a good time on New Year's, there is no better place than...Newkirk, Oklahoma?

If Gregg would rather play in Oklahoma than Atlanta on NYE, I will take that as conclusive proof that either Gregg and/or his management have completely lost their minds.

No offense to any Oklahomans out there, but seriously, two casino shows in Oklahoma and no Atlanta show, either by the ABB or Gregg, in 3 years? I dare anyone to justify that.

Agreed. Must be a good check!

Casino shows are huge bank. Even if they're in the middle of nowhere.

Agreed. NYE is just another day. If the casino in OK is paying 10x the price of a theater gig in Atlanta, Gregg would be a fool not to take it. For all we know, he's been paying for all of his medical care out of pocket.

When Gregg and Duane started out they joined the musicians union. I'm sure Gregg has keep his card and if so it comes with medical benefits package.

Seems like a bizarre location for someone of Gregg's musical stature. But according to mapquest it's 6 hrs 7 mins / 371.50 miles.

I will have to give this some serious thought.

The Okies deserve a good show and I hope they get it. Here's hoping Gregg is feeling 100% for an NYE show wherever it is.

Sorry if my last post was a little harsh. It's definitely good news for those in Oklahoma, and I'm sure a lot of folks in that area are excited. Good for them.

I realize casinos pay top dollar, and that is certainly a factor here. Gregg and the ABB don't play casino gigs for the attentive crowds and flawless acoustics, that's for sure.

Even so, it's hard to see how, with 3 years of pent-up demand, Gregg and/or the ABB couldn't make plenty of money playing in Atlanta. I'm not asking for a charity gig to benefit the Sisters of the Poor here. They could do well money-wise in Atlanta.

If money is the only concern, Gregg could probably do even better playing million dollar gigs for Russian mobsters, as several pop stars have done recently. I wonder if his management has looked into that, that's where the real money is....

Went to high school in Texas. We hated Okies. I was never exactly sure why, but it was a regulation of Texas to not like them, pick fights, call names, and be disrespectful in general of Okies. It never was just "Okies". It was "%#$%#%#%$%$#%# Okies". The fact most of them drove cr@ppy cars and trucks with fenders flappin' didn't help. Ugly mutt dogs in back and bales of hay. There is some hill they are real proud of. Okies....

Looks like Nebraska can't hate Oklahoma anymore either, since they're Big 10 now.

I drove I-40 through OK. last year for the first time in 15 years. It seems like there is a casino at every exit from California to Arkansas.I can see it now,Gregg Allman announces I-40 casino
tour. The bus trips would be short and you can buy cool stuff at the Native American truck stops!

I have another "harsh comment": if these dates are true than planning and announcing them is in very bad taste. Very recently many dates have been cancelled. If a certain illness needs a certain time to heal then rescheduling those dates would be the propper thing to do. But in Gregg's case it's even more complicated since his health issues are more complicated. If he wants a full recovery from his current infection and wants to address his hernia('s) there's also his weaker condition due to Hep C and his liver transplant. Looks impossible to me for a medical doctor to establish a date for a complete recovery and a green light for more touring. This maybe rude but to me this looks rather bad / irresponsable management.

It's always good to see Gregg (and or the Brothers) playing ANYWHERE outside of N.Y.

I agree. Announcing this date after you cancel a run of shows a few weeks out (but keep the next week of shows) is just odd. Buying a ticket to a Gregg show over the last couple of years is no guarantee he'll be able to honor the gig physically (because he pushes the envelope so much). Most music fans aren't as forgiving over cancellations as us hardcore crew.

And with as much pent up demand as there is in Atlanta, Gregg could sell out The Tabernacle here on 12/30 and 12/31 easily.

Hope Gregg gets the rest & recovery he needs.

That, plus I'm pretty sure he can afford health insurance.

I think these shows were in the works before Gregg's cancellations started.
I inqured at Winstar about a month ago and they told me it was in the works but it looks like Gregg's got some tending to himself to do.
Winstar claims its like the 3rd largest Casino in the world. Big joint for sure but plenty of those Vegas places seem much larger to me, maybe they are using total square miles owned by a casino as their standard.
The concert hall there is pretty large, flat floor with a stage thats maybe 5 feet above floor level, so the view isn't that great if you're seated back a bit.
The joint is maybe one mile north of the Texas -Okie border, not much more than an hour north of the DFW area, a coupla hours south of OKC.
Show is billed as Gregg Allman/ Buddy Guy for Winstar.
Santana/Frante there in a few weeks.
Usually a show on friday and saturday nights there , national acts.
