I started this thread because I was blasting Low Country Blues tonight on my living room stereo, and it ain't a bad stereo. The production by T-Bone Burnett has taken a lot of criticism here lately, and playing it loud on a good stereo (the way, of course, well produced records were meant to be played), I think the criticism is largely unfounded.

That said, let me get to my whole point in starting this thread: Low Country Blues is a GREAT record because of Gregg's voice.......nothing more, nothing less. He's in PRIME form here, and it's on display even more than at an ABB show because there are no instrumentals or other lead vocalists on Low Country Blues. I think sometimes we who love ABB get caught up in criticism and forget what we've got here: The greatest blues singer EVER.

That's what I've enjoyed most about ''Low Country Blues'' as well. You're not concerned about hearing Warren and Derek's guitar. The focus is all on Gregg's voice, and he sounds great on this album.

Friday at the Honeytribe show, Los Blancos, the opener, played I Can't Be Satisfied.

Derek looked at me and said "I know that song, even if they're playing it really fast".

When I told him the name of it, he knew EGG ZAKK LEE where he'd heard it before.

I like LCB and I think Gregg sounds great. As I've said before, Gregg could sing the phone book and I'd enjoy that too.

The amazing thing about Gregg to me is that as a young man he sang like an " old soul " , years ahead of his time ,and now that he is an "old soul " he's singing like he's many years younger than he actually is. The man has an amazing gift and we're truly blessed that he's still sharing that gift with us. Indeed, the road goes on forever.

I know this is the ABB site and Robslob thinks Greg is The Voice. Dude there only one The Voice and it is Frank Sinatra, The Voice, the Skipper and Chairman of the Board.

I agree.

And I love Low Country Blues. I'm not sure why anyone would be so critical of the production although I respect the fact we all have our own opinions...

Great album, maybe a little too long. The production is bad. I have to turn off my sub woofer and turn down the bass. It bottoms out my Definitive Tech. speakers.

Gregg is the greatest of all time. T-Bone made a good album because he had the best subject in the world to work with. Most people in this forum could produce a better record if they had Gregg as a partner.
