at least not when it comes to happy scalpers.

The tickets available on StubHub are numerous and some are downright cheap ($75). what the scalpers anticipated was that the core audience would take to this show like we take to the March run. I don't think that's the case.

i will wager that when i go to the show to scalp next week, there will be plenty of seats available and it will be a buyers market.

Maybe the New York area has been worn out just a little bit.If the ABB benefit was at the
Fox in ATL it would be sold out .Heres hoping the Atlanta ABB embargo is lifted soon.

Me to.
The cost of flying, hotels & miscellaneous expenditures for just one show in the middle of the week.
I just couldn't justify it.

if this concert was played at PNC Bank Arts Center in NJ, with a decent opener, it would have sold out and raised more money. but i bet there are a thousands other reasons why this venue was selected.

regardless, my post was not a slight at the band. it was a slight on the scalpers.

You may be right but there haven't even been single seats available on Ticketmaster for the last 2 weeks and the only tickets that are (as you say) downright cheap on Stubhub are Crappy Upper Balcony seats. As far as scalping next week you are probably right since stub hub is offering 524 tickets today.

I believe the location probably has a lot to do with Merck being located in NJ. Usually if you are footing the bill for a party you want to be able to attend

That makes me sorry I paid $150 for my crappy seat. Oh well. It's for a good cause.

Living in NYC I love it. But I do sympathize with the peeps in the other part of the country. The concert was put together in kind of a hurry and since the Brothers have such a good reputation with The Beacon I am sure that's why it was chosen.

Most of the seats that were/are available for this show are pretty crappy, way more than a normal Beacon show. I think most seats will be filled by Merck and Dolan associates.

"I can sympathize with the GA folks...when was the last time Atlanta was played? Seems like alot of extra money to spend on traveling, moving gear, roadies, food, lodging when they could just travel up the road to Atl for a night."

Charlie, this post sounds like you think the band still lives in Macon. That is not the case.

Gregg lives in Savannah, and I believe Oteil lives in Atlanta now, but I believe those are the only two ABB members who live in Georgia.

Derek and Butch live in Florida.

Warren and I think Marc live in NYC, or thereabouts. Jaimoe lives in Connecticut.

NYC is actually very close to 3 ABB members, and is the most central location for them to play, especially since New York is such a major transportation hub and easy to get to.

As an Atlanta resident, I don't like it any more than anyone else, but it's pretty obvious that over the past several years, New York has become the center of gravity for the ABB.

Check the demographics for Hep C... NYC has high prevelance and likely why NYC was selected. I'm glad I get to see a summer show, but understand the frusrtration of others.

Chicago would have been nice.

People aren't going to travel the distance for just one show. In March you can go see the ABB multiple nights and it makes it much more attractive for long distance travellers. I would imagine there will be plenty of cheap seats available the day of the show.

I will bet you get an excellent show and I am sure the ABB will play the same in July as they do in March

This is not a standard ABB concert, it's a fund raiser. The money raised is gonna come from fat cat donors, who get ABB seats in the font of the house in exchange for their donations. Notice very few of the StubHub seats are in the front center orchestra.

The StubHub sellers are just as likely random profit seekers as they are scalpers. Scalpers usually get better seats than Upper Balcony

The show is held where the donors live, which apparently is not Atlanta or Chicago. Could have been LA, maybe, but we all know the ABB does not do the west coast.
