Haven't been on much of a buying spree lately...but, I'm chalking it up to "quality over quantity":

CD's bought:
Gregg Allman - Low Country Blues
Tedeschi Trucks Band - Revelator
Stevie Nicks - In Your Dreams

Friends CD's copied:
Delaney & Bonnie & Friends Live with Eric Clapton box set

Downloaded from iTunes:
George Harrison - Gone Troppo
George Harrison - Somewhere In England

A question regarding 40th "Layla": If I have the first Crossroads box set, which has tracks from the aborted 2nd Dominos album and the two tracks from the original Tell The Truth/Roll It Over single, and I have the 25th Anniversary "Layla" box, as well as the "Jam" version of "Tell The Truth" from the History Of Eric Clapton LP from the early '70s, is the 40th Anniversary box set necessary? Or, is there a track or two that a Clapton completist like me would HAVE to get the set for??

Oh, wait...what'd I mean "I haven't been on a buying spree"...I guess I blocked it out or something, after seeing Prince in concert near the end of April, I loaded up on his CD's and almost tripled my Prince collection:

I got:

For You
Prince
Controversy
Dirty Mind
Come
Batman soundtrack
The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale
The Gold Experience
Emancipation
Chaos & Disorder
Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic
N.E.W.S.
Musicology
3121
Planet Earth
20Ten

DISCLAIMER: I got the above Prince albums either used (most of them) or downloaded for free, LEGALLY ("20TEN")...I think I only paid around $25 for all of them (including shipping)

It is if you don't want to pay Big Bucks for an import of Derek & The Dominos In Concert (not Live At The Fillmore) which has the definitive version of Why Does love Got To Be So Sad, IMHO. I thought it was pulled? According to a lot of the reviews on amazon there were serious packaging issues with it. They haven't showed it since a couple of weeks after it was released.

I have the D&tD In Concert on CD....have had it for a number of years (I think I got it in that short window from about '85-90 when record companies were releasing everything in their catalogues on CD from the LP mixes (and when 56 minutes per disc was the industry standard).

I agree, THAT's the only "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad?" in my mind. :-) That includes when I saw Clapton play the song live in '75 at the GW Forum the night Keith Moon showed up.

I bought a few selections from Yourmusic.com during this last month as they just had a huge going out of business sale :

The Beach Boys- Sounds of Summer
The Velvet Underground- Playlist
Steve Miller Band- Bingo
Best of the Troggs
Day of The Eagle: The Best of Robin Trower

All were $3.99 each (free shipping) except The Velvet Underground which was $3.99 x 3 ( 3 disc set)

From Ebay:

James Mc Murtry -Where'd You Hide The Body and Candyland

Within the last few months :

The new album by some guy named Gregg Allman..

R.E.M.- Collapse Into Now
The Feelies- Here Before
The Decemberists- The King Is Dead
Dream Theater-Systematic Chaos and Black Clouds and Silver Linings

Still need Warren's new one but I have not been up to Best Buy yet...

Also need Rory's "new" one as well...

Happily...it never ends ...

Hank, you are obviously a Grooveyard fan! Lotta cool stuff there....I'd be interested to know what you think of Dirty Dave Osti after you've had a chance to listen to it. That Jay Jesse Johnson is on my list to buy - I heard one of the tunes on a sampler and it sounded killer. Tony Spinner is great too - I just picked up Live In Europe as well. He is great. And I just got BCC2 in the mail today and bought the Matt Schofield disc a few days but haven't received it yet.

You have excellent taste....LOL

Of course, there a TON of great players form the Memphis area, many of whom are unfortunately unknown....and many who are.
