Hook Herrera!
His contributions on the Mountain Jam show (like Working Class Hero) blew me away!!!
Real added value.

Either one of Hook Herrera or Ron Holloway both of whom were otherworldly with the Mule on Hunter Mountain last Saturday night.

I think the current four should stay at four and have Ron Holloway or Hook Herrera able to sit in when they want

Hook and Warren play nicely together. But the Mule catalog does not suit a harp player on every song.

If you have seen Ron Holloway sitting in with Mule or have seen the WHB live, there is no question that the Haynes-Holloway chemistry is as intense, if not more so, than that between Warren and Derek.

I would love to see Holloway as a regular part of the band.

It's just that I can't appreciate the frequent "overblows(??)" of Ron and sax-players in general.

Ron Holloway as long as he plays in a various way, not so over the top like he always plays with the WHB. Sometimes subtle works too.

During the second set of Mule at Mt Jam he played with much more variety. I liked that.

That assessment fits my line of thinking....Ron H. could be Gov't Mules Thom "Ace" Douchette...He and Warren just do it, its almost like they don't have to think, IMHO, of course. But Ron H. gets my unofficial vote.

I actually had a drunken theory during the middle of the Mule Mnt Jam set that went something like this.

"The WHB is only around right now to slowly introduce Ron Holloway to the Mule, fans would be too upset and controversial if Warren just added a fifth member of the Mule, so instead he created the WHB to really introduce Ron to his fans. He then will have Ron come out as much as possible with the Mule, when the WHB band is no longer Ron will then become a member of the Mule with little or no complaints from fans since they saw the gradual inclusion with him in the first place."

My friends thought I was crazy to think it but I still kind of think it sounds about right

If not Ron then my other vote would be the dude playing the groovy washboards from Mnt Jam, that was just insane to hear from the mnt.

^^ that was cody dickenson who plays with north mississippi (and others). he typically plays drums with them but also plays guitar (just not as well as his bro).

my vote would be for karl denson over Ron. I enjoy both but just like Karl better. I did like the Audley suggestion.

These cats look pretty good together.

Actually my vote would be a return to the trio format with George Porter as bassist. Can I get and amen!

Not disagreeing with George Porter, not to say I dont think Jorgen is a monster Bassist.
But will disagree returning to the trio format... Danny Louis is incredible and honestly what made Mule turn into my favorite band. He offers way too much to their music (especially the live show) to go back to the trio format.

With that said keep em a foursome no need for a fifth!

I believe Warrens intro went something like this - "Cody Dickinson's gonna join us too on the Electric Frying Pan !"

Only one flaw with that theory. Mule fans are already highly familiar with Ron from his MANY appearances with the Mule.
