I'm sure I'm not the first to post this question... what are the best and/or worst band names you ever
heard, or came up with yourself?

Here's a few:

Best:

* The Rolling Stones
* The Grateful Dead
* Jefferson Airplane
* Dystopia (name of Olympia punk group I was in 87, years prior to the group that got out on records)
* Rain (made up)
* The Lost Canyon Band (made up)

Worst:

* The Cosmic Janitors
* Satchal (out of Murfreesboro)
* The Clouds That Fondle Jagged Crags And Raging Storms Conspire And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
* The Artist Formerly Known As Prince
* Necrofelchyr

These are just up to the beholder as "best" or "worst":

A few of the bands I used to (at one time) call myself a member:

Brutal Poodle
Temple Monkeys
Free Money

Some of the famous (& semi-famous) bands with, I think, cool names (don't necessarily like the music, but the names are cool):

Flaming Lips
Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger
Foo Fighters
The New Power Generation
The Revolution

Flogging Molly

My brother's diva gf is a musician and her first name is Molly.

I was happy with the idea after the first engagement she broke off.

She could also be "Hit Upside the Head Molly" as well.

I loved The Fabulous Poodles, both the name and the band, although Brutal Poodle is pretty good too...

Bad names: REO Speedwagon

Limp Bizkit

all of the hair metal misspellings: Ratt, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Trixter, Krokus: what a dopey trend. We saw a band called Sinz once - help!

all of the place names: Kansas, Boston, Europe - show some effort, guys! I am gratfeful that I have not heard of a band called "Connecticut" yet.

A couple of bands from the Punk era come to mind. Not sure if they're bad names or good names:

The Dead Kennedys
The Sick Fuchs (but spelled differently, which would prevent it from appearing on this page!)

I always liked "We Were Promised Jetpacks."

On of my oldest and closest friends son is the lead singer in the above band, I've known him since he was born. How big are the Jetpacks over your way?
I wondered because I have a picture of him naked in the bath when he was a toddler and will it make me rich one day

Punk/Industrial has some of the best names...

Scraping Foetus Off The Wheel
Black Flag
Misfits
Revolting Cocks
Fugazi
Nine Inch Nails

Rage Against The Machine...awesome name

Not to bag on my hometown's own bands, but, I always thought The Rainmakers was freaking stupid, but their original name was Steve, Bob and Rich. I'll bet Haisija saw those guys...

Actually never saw the Rainmakers, but before they were the Rainmakers and SB and R they made up a country rock band, Fields with local Celtic songbird Connie Dover . Now Steve and maybe Bob or Rich along with former Blue Riddum Band (Grammy Winning ) keyboard and sax player Joe Miquelon and a few other folk make up an Irish band in the KC area which is touring in Ireland presently called The Elders.
Back to your statement ..I did see Steve Bob and Rich .

I've seen The Elders a few times. Always a great time.

The Rainmakers did a "reunion" show a couple of weeks ago. Bob Walkenhorst still plays acoustic shows quite often.

Remember the Bon-Ton Soul Accordion Band? (always a great time at The Hurricane) Their bass player, Ed Toler, taught me how to play the bass. He passed away unexpectedly a few years ago.
