I was thinking about going to see them in Atl in August (never seen them), but they are playing two nights there. Would it be expected that they would cover the same material in the those two nights?

they played a number of nights at the beacon a few years back and they mixed things up pretty good with different themes each night...I dont know what they have planned on this tour but they do put on a good show

I remember that, I believe they played a different album in it's entirety each night.

I've seen The Dan many times over the last 10 years or so. They are only doing the special album sets in a couple of cities this year and Atlanta isn't one of the one of the special set cities listed on their website. The last few years, they've really started to vary the sets more, but not like ABB. I would think you would hear many of the same tunes both nights, but probably switch up a handful. Their sets pull heavily from the Aja, Royal Scam and Gaucho albums. This year they are doing a "Dawn of the Dan" set one night at the Beacon with a bunch of stuff from their first few studio albums. I would love to catch that one.
They are a great live band. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Nothing is ever written in stone, especially with these guys...I've been lucky enough to attend shows where it seemed like the band was really playing directly to that long time fan...playing sleepers like "Sign in stranger"..or "The royal scam"...and "Third world man"...and other shows where every song played was a FM hit...Have yet to hear one of their complete album shows...that would be very, very cool...

Anyway, go for it...they are very good.

Last time they were at The Beacon, I saw the Aja show, which was spiritual for me. Thought I would do a different show this year, so I got tickets for Dawn of The Dan. I can't imagine that I would be dissappointed. The second set is always a mix of their other stuff, and I bet I get something form Aja as well.

Its also a special night for me, as my daughter comes in from Boston to attend the show with my wife and me.

I have seen Steely Dan many times. I have NEVER left one of thier shows disappointed in any way. Always satisfied. They are on a level of thier own. World class musicians playing some of the best music of our era. I was lucky enough to catch them in D.C.,October ,2009 when they did Aja in it's entirety ! Wow !

I only saw them live once, in the summer of 1996 @ the Hollywood Bowl. A very good show on a beautiful night. I think they had just started touring again at that point. They opened with Do It Again, and I remember an encore with My Old School. I was expecting a Reelin' In the years" given the concert locale, but it didn't happen.

Have fun!

I saw the Royal Scam show at the Tower in Philly last summer. Oustanding. Expect them to veer off in the later part of the show and play a lot of different stuff. If you like their music, you will love their show.
