You get two demo's if you order it from Best Buy.

I absolutely hate when different stores offer different versions of an album.

It is annoying but it's reality. A CD's success or failure is largely determined by how many copies Best Buy and other big retailers purchase. Bonus content goes a long way to getting Best Buy (et al) to feature your product in advertising, and to get good placement within the stores, which can make a huge difference. I do appreciate knowing that TTB says there will be no exclusive bonus content for any retailer. But I don't blame Warren & company for doing this either. I know it's a pain for the inner completist, but they're just demo tracks, so it's nothing too mindblowing. The good stuff is on the CD itself!

I just wish they would release all the different release information at the same time, so I can make a decision as to which one I'll purchase.

That sounds way too reasonable.

I don't really care about those two extra tracks personally. One song already on the record and a Mule song, 'Frozen Fear' which I have live and studio copies of.

Well, what you can do is buy the pre-order with the extra DVD and the standard CD and then buy the BB disc with the 2 extra tracks and then trade/sell the standard CD to your favorite independent CD store and get maybe $5 back for it...or just give it to a Warren fan.

Hope this helps

Sometimes I really wonder about Warren's management. Here's the latest on the release:

Due to a printing delay the vinyl will not be ready to ship on May 6th. All vinyl orders will ship by May 20th, the free download (for pre-order customers) will still be available on the release date. We apologize for the delay, but wanted to make sure that the vinyl was up to our standards.

Please note: "Man in Motion" releases on May 10, 2011 and is now available for pre-order. All orders will ship on or around May 6, 2011. Please note: all items in your order will be held to ship on that date.

I don't see where the delay is the fault of management. But I do see that it was announced in advance, rather than keeping people waiting without explanation.

But folks have already pre-ordered it and now they have to wait. Who knows if it will be available by the date they claim. And this is announced less than a week before the release?

Also, the CD pre-order is announced as being delivered 3 - 7 days after the release date (at least you get the DVD).

And how about the Chicago DVD fiasco from a few years ago? I'm not sure how that one got resolved, but I think it took months to do so if it did.

I couldn't get tix for my local upcoming Warren show per the parameters of the emails they sent out as well.

Who knows, maybe it's just MusicToday's fault for the gaffes.

It just seems like it is one thing after another with things Warren-related which gets frustrating.

Yes, that's probably what I will do.

However, it doesn't mean I have to like this trend of releasing different versions to different outlets.

I have three copies of Already Free, The signed pre-order, the Best Buy exclusive and
the Sony Japan version. I think the vinyl version also had a different bonus track as well.

Could someone remind me please, what song(s) was a Best Buy exclusive for Already Free?

Thanks!

And yes, the vinyl has an instrumental last track that isn't on the CD.

(and there was one on iTunes too - or was that the same as the BB version?)

If 25,000 people each buy 4 copies of the disc from different outlets that's a 100 thousand seller right away. That's top 10 these days.

Best Buy has an exclusive edition with three bonus tracks:

"Ballad of the Chicken Robber" (Trucks/Mattison) - 1:55
"Swamp Raga" (Trucks) - 6:31
"Long Time Man" (trad.) - 5:24

iTunes includes a bonus track with the purchase of the album:

"Goin' Home" (Trucks/Mattison) - 3:14

I am just happy for Warren that he is high enough on the radar screen for Best Buy to be doing this. To be honest, it surprises me. Not that he doesn't deserve it, of course! He's one of the most talented people alive. It just seems to me that somehow his name has largely escaped the public eye for some reason. Meanwhile, Britney Spears tops sales lists and sells out large arenas...............
