Regarding the thread I started about my austistic son getting booted from the robotics team.
Final Solution-

I talked to the Prinicipal. She made no defense for the actions of the teacher who called my son a thief. After thoroughly explaining to her his honesty and integrity as well as lack of any malice when picking up a quarter, she informed me that this teacher is being disciplined for his overreaction. She assured me that all dealings he has with kids will be heavily scrutinized.

1) He will no longer have any connection to the Robotics Team.
2) He will be receiving training on dealing with all types of children,
including those with special needs, in a non-military manner.
3) He is mandated to write us an official apology acknowledging the error of his ways.
4) My son has rejoined the Robotics Team, forgiven the teacher and is happy as a clam!

At this point, it is water under the bridge for me, a life lesson for all. We have forgiven this teacher as a family and hope he benefits from this experience.
Thank you one and all for all of the advice that really helped me formulate my tact in handling this issue. You have not only helped me, but also my son, other kids at this school, and yes, the mean teacher.

Obligatory picture-
My son receiving his 2nd academic letter.

I followed your story on the other thread.

Good for you! Good for your whole family.

Nice-looking happy kid there, too. I know you are proud and you should be.

i can't tell you how nice it is to see a happy ending here..

I believe it is due,in LARGE part, to your very professional , well thought out letter..

Your child is blessed to have you as a parent

Great news, goldtopper! Wonderful that your son is back on the robotics team and won't have to deal with the 'drill sargeant', wonderful that you handled it in a thoughtful manner for all concerned, and great to hear that this person is being held accountable in having to issue the well deserved apology to your son and also, in getting the training he needs to properly deal with children (and hopefully never make this type of mistake in the future). Thanks for sharing that picture of your son ... his smile and look of pride demonstrate what this club means for him.

Been following the situation and this is my first time commenting. I'm very happy for you that this got resolved properly, through proper channels and reasonable people prevailed. Congratulations to your son and of course you.

I've followed the story on the other thread and I can't be any happier for your entire family and especially your son!!! A great ending to what started out as a heart-wrenching tragedy. Hopefully, Mr. D.I. learns a lesson as well. You handled the situation with much class and are to be commended. All things good to those who are patient and civil.

I'm kind of wet behingd the eyeballs on this one. Great news

Now if that teacher needs to do 1, 2 and 3, I imagine that one more swerve for him could mean termination....

And as spacemonkey said "Foregiveness is another lesson well learned"....
I whole heartedly agree....
