No shocker there. Derek has been writing songs for a new album with Susan and really building it up - you have to assume that they will do some serious touring on it. I was figuring they would tour for a good year at least.

I agree completely. I've been going to dTb shows since they were, most times an easy tkt. The Derek/Susan show in Charlotte is sold out! I thought that I'd wait a day or two to get tkts now the joke's on me. Hope some fans have a couple the night of the show.

If somebody heard it from somebody.....wow, that sounds very official.

Some bands go on a haitus, some have a solo project and Derek and Susan decided to join hands. In a few years (maybe after a hiatus) they probably have an "artistic urge" to do it themselves again and probably The Susan Tedeschi Band and The Derek Trucks Band will record and tour separately again. Maybe with different line ups then before.
Time will tell. I personally am very interested to hear the new band on CD and in concert.

Still not sure the Yoko references are just for fun but in case they are serious then all i can say it's one of the most stupid things i ever read on this great forum in the last 10 years. Just my 2 cents.

What's that river in Egypt called??? Eric was using appropriate discretion in not naming the source. The musicians in both bands have moved on and will not likely be available in a few years time for a reunion.

I agree - rumors are much more trustworthy when we don't know the source. I doubt the TTB is going to take a break this early, so I don't expect to see the band anytime soon. But I'm hopeful they'll be back together at some point. And respectfully, whatever happens I don't expect to get the news from a friend of a friend of someone on this forum.

You do not create a money making machine to turn it off. The DTB has been successful, profitable, and won a Grammy. You cannot walk away from this. There is no exit strategy. Fans will be asking Derek when he plans to start DTB back up until it happens. Do not worry, we will see DTB soon. As demand for his record sales slow, the band will hit the road and record. The Susan/Derek band was created to allow both Derek and Susan to have normal lives. They can work and live together. With separate bands, your have trouble with being together. I hope that when DTB starts back up, we do not loss Rico. He is the old cat in the band.

You guys who call Susan Yoko crack me up. I'll be nice but you know nothing at all about anything.

Susan is great. She was a great singer and musician before Derek and she adds positive stuff to Derek's career as well as his life.

Guitarists who don't sing are about as popular as Jeff Beck. LOL. Most people don't even know who he is. Derek is lucky he has a wife who sings. And rather wonderfully, imho. I'm not saying he had no career without her, but now he has a chance of actually having a great career.

I wish them the best with the new cd. I personally look forward to it and could have cared less about the last few DTB cds. I always enjoyed them live but never ever ever put their music on unless I was seeing them live. I listen to Susan often.

So for every one of you who bemoan the loss of the DTB, there are as many who are fine with the shift in Derek's career.

Just saying.

Can't wait for the new cd.

As for winning a Grammy. It's a nice accolade, but please. It means about a hill of beans in terms of profitability.

And there are many who are NOT.. And there are more then you think.
Unfortunately this new band will most like break "big"
Susan us talented, no doubt.
But thier commercial "poppy" sound will win over the masses I am sure
Can blame Derek for chasing the almighty dollar I guess.

I feel like the DTB will get back together eventually.. Maybe not for a while, but I feel like he will get the urge to play the kinda tunes they did in that band. I don't see this new band playing the straight jazz songs and old school blues stuff, but I DO see Derek eventually wanting to get back into that kinda stuff.. I'm pretty excited about this new cd and seeing the new band some more..

Oh, and I am sure Susan has no problem being called Yoko. While Yoko's music is a little hard on the ears, she has turned out to be quite appropriate in her handling of John's legacy. Not many could do it with the grace and intelligence Yoko has. Just saying in case you think I have any negative attitude toward Yoko. In fact I think she saved John from a life of heroin addiction and bad juju from his childhood.
