No complaints with any of the shows, but does anyone ever recall the band repeating songs as the encore as they have so far on this run?

3/10
Southbound

3/11
One Way Out

3/12
No One to Run With

3/14
One Way Out

3/15
One Way Out

3/17
Southbound

Maybe these are showing up more frequently than they usually are, but the band seems to only have a handful of songs that they pull in as closers.

Fortunately I love all these.

I was thrilled with Preachin' Blues before One Way Out on 3/11. That was good enough for me and the only show I am at for the run. Encores are pretty predictable at this point.

I'd rather hear a Whipping Post encore than Southbound any day of the week. I do like Southbound, just not as an encore.

i agree about southbound, its a great song except when they do it as an encore. When played with Juke Horns its always a concert highlight.

I think this band usually play itself out on the last number and the encore is just a fun song at the end of show. What really surprised me the other night was Robert Randolph sitting in for the encores. I was wondering if he just got to the show too late to go on during the second act. It was very unusual IMO.

As for Whipping Post, it is obviously a great encore but also a great finish to any act.

I would like to see a few other songs worked into the encores such as Layla, Statesboro and Revival.

Southbound is a great song to feature guests and I like it fine as a show closer. I especially like it when they have some somebody playing sax in the house. That song can cook!

I've come to accept the encores are typically kind of the same 6 or so with some more frequent then others. I've also come to really like WP as the first set closer more than a show closer because it is so huge, but then you realize you have the whole 2nd set yet to go!

Three of the best encores I've heard were Statesboro Blues that closed the 2009 run (such an incredible version of the song), Whipping Post last year on the 18th and Jessica from one of the 2009 shows. I think the live version that they do of Jessica just screams!

They did do Melissa for one of those Encore's too. Which I thought was a good place for it. I like all the tunes mentioned, I would just prefer to hear/see songs you wouldn't really expect for an Encore. Like, for example if they did "Ain't Wastin' Time No More" or something you just wouldn't expect. Everytime they are gonna come back for an Encore, it's almost automatic to assume that it's gonna be One Way Out or Southbound.....Not that I really care either way. I would like to hear them break out "Please Call Home" at least once this run....

Back in the day (90s) you could almost always call the encore every night. Could almost call the whole setlist for that matter.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if they were to ever drop "I'm Gonna Move To The Outskirts Of Town" in as an encore...or even within the normal set list.

I don't know what was on the set list, but would have certainly guess Whipping Post Friday 3/18,felt like it, but there just wasn't time for it (encore break at 11:45).

I was thinking the same thing; though they usually encour WP after a MJ sandwich

Encore break was roughly the same Saturday as Friday. They started playing WP at 11:47 and in my opinion rushed it a bit, still finished at 12:01 though. Thought Derek and Warren both cut their feature spots a tad shorter than they normally would have. Just wish they could start the shows closer to 8:25 instead of after 8:30. Think last night was 8:35. Those few minutes can be important at the end of the night.

Seeing them bust out Preachin' Blues at opening night of the United Palace run was perfect. I liked the added line about Reverend Ike's church.
