Allegedly Donald Fagan will be joining the band this evening. A little birdie told me that. I just love rumor mongering!! I'll let you know if my birdie was correct. If it is not, I will shoot it with my 10 gauge.

Kid Charlemagne would be nice to hear, there's alot the Brothers could do with that song. It does seem like an odd pairing though.

Pretzel Logic would be cool. Warren could take the "Stepped up to the platform" line. If Fagen shows tonight, I'll be disappointed to miss it!

Hmmmm.... the stars could be aligned. The song is allegedly an allusion to Bear, who just passed this week. Would be a nice tribute.

If they did The Caves Of Altimira together I think I'd have an out-of-body exerience . I'm very jealous of the Beaconites tonight .

Donald Fagan in the Beacon tonight?

This would be cool because the sky is the limit...

Wouldn't Donald singing the ABB's .. "Nevertheless" be a perfect fit?

>>>
"A more enduring song, Steely Dan's 1976 classic-rock anthem "Kid Charlemagne," was "loosely inspired" by Owsley, "a well-known psychedelic chef of the day," Walter Becker confirmed in a 2000 web chat. The "Technicolor motor home" in the lyrics is said to refer to the brightly painted bus used by Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters, who were known for tripping on Stanley's supply of acid, as detailed in Tom Wolfe's Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test book. Perhaps the most quizzical line in the highly quizzical Steely Dan lyrics canon—"Is there gas in the car? Yes, there's gas in the car"—alludes to how Stanley was busted after... you guessed it... his car stalled from lack of gas." <<<

Umphrey's McGee actually covered this the other night and dedicated it to Bear......thought that was pretty cool.

Donald Fagen sang "Shakedown Street." He has been performing this with his current act The Dukes of September, (also featuring Boz Scaggs & Michael McDonald). I saw the DOS at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia a few months ago. I thought it was strange hearing him sing a Grateful Dead song.

Donald Fagan with the ABB! How I wish I could've been there! I'm sure he did a fine rendition of "Shakedown Street". I actually imagined the band playing, "Do It Again". When the song first came out, I noticed a slight Santana-ish feel to it. Doesn't seem too complicated a tune and I think it could've been jammed out on.

Now about that Steely Dan -Allman Brother's tour ...

Shakedown was great, but Down Along the Cove with Donald, just before Shakedown, was phenomenal. They were going nuts (I was too). This band has some crazy mojo right now, maybe its Derek playing goldtop on songs like this, or Warren playing green strings on this night!! It sounds like a freight train coming at you. Donald reminds me of a white Ray Charles. The whole show was great. A few slip ups by Mr. Allman, but otherwise these guys are the greatest thing going by a long shot. I don't know what all the bthin is about. This is the ABB full speed ahead. Catch it while you can. It seems to be an exploding super nova.
