Does anyone know if the ABB is planning to film and record for DVD the upcoming Beacon run and/or summer shows. Would the support be there for another DVD? Personally, I'd like to see and hear more.

Nothing has been said about it on this site. But I think if the ABB did kind of an annual documentary thing (not necessarily just the Beacon, more like a 'year in review' to be available around holiday gift time), that'd be really cool.

I'd love to see it. However almost sure that it will NOT happen. It took the boys over a decade since their last tour film (1991). Almost sure it will not happen.

Keep fingers crossed for a more extensive "Instant Live" type of offering for next summer. Now that would be even sweeter (to me anyway). More shows, more shows, more shows......

If they made a profit from the 2003 Beacon DVD, why not do another? I'd buy that one too, but I suppose no-one makes two DVD's within a year.

Personally, if the band are going to do anything on DVD this coming year, I'd like to see them devote their energies to putting material together for a full-length anthology-type DVD - even if this means slowing down on their archive CD releases, I think most fans would welcome this with open arms!

Yes, that would be great. I can't imagine they would put out an annual DVD from each year's concert footage though.

Not sure how they could get too much slower as it stands now

Or we could get the VH1 people to do a "Legends" series on them. Although I haven't seen those in awhile. And they'll probably focus on the juicier bits.

VH1 has been trying to get the Allmans to do "Behind the Music" for years... they've always said no, and I hope they keep doing so. And the reason is exactly what you said.

On the subject of DVD

It doesn't seem to me to be to far of a reach to produce "instant Live" DVDs.I'm going on my own experience with Pitt and Cleve outdoor shows. There are always cameras shooting the show to put on the Big Screens for the lawn folks. With the technology where it is now,it seems very possible to use that video to produce limited print dvd.Or collect the video for minor work, then release it.

Just my .02

That's what I'd like to see. Would love to see whatever historical footage was available.

A full length anthology DVD is an outstanding idea. It seems with the vault tapes coming out, the success and implication of Hittin the Note and the Beacon DVD, timing is right for a comprehensive documentary of the evolving musical force the ABB has become. Is any historical footage of the band in circulation?

Years ago I bought a bootleg VHS of the boys playing the FIllmore. Terrible quality, but it was great seeing the grainy shawdows of what I had long only imaged. Except for an appearance on "In Concert" on late night TV in the mid-seventies (which age has reduced to a clip Greg hunched over Hammond surrounded by coke cups teasing out the final lines of "One Way Out"), I've not found any refernce to AV recordings of ABB before Duane's death. I did note a DVD on eBay that combined footage from the Fillmore with later (80's shows?). I know this material is out there. What became of those IN Concert tapes? The Fillmore Tapes? I saw a clip of Duane playing Whipping Post on a overly slick Rolling Stone history of R&R. Surely there's someone in the orchard who knows...

I wonder with resources going in so many directions if the ABB's endless road docu-history project would find support and the light of day.
