yup
so after begging in the Spare ticket Section for months haha me, my bro-in-law and my buddy decided we'd go hang out in NYC and see if we could score tickets to the show.

We buy 3 tickets from the first guy we see cause we figured we could then just relax and have some beers before the show instead of racing around and scrambling at the last second.

I dont recall ever buying from the "professional scalpers" i always just look for fans with extras.
But this time the guy enticed us by "hooking us up" with Loge seats for $100

As soon as I felt this ticket I thought it seemed a little off. I did the "lighter test" and it didnt seem to burn up like paper so I thought we were in the clear.

walked a few blocks then checked the ticket again and noticed NO ticketmaster watermark and then noticed the paper on the back had split off. NOOOOOO!
We were duped, despite the fact we all work in NYC and go to a million shows in NYC we were the rubes who still bought fake rolex watchs, WTF!

i tried to slip the guy at the Beacon $60 with the fake tix and explain our story but they kept the tickets and told us get lost

hope i have better luck gambling in Vegas next week haha

I 2009 the box office manager told me they were getting 200 to 300 fakes per night. That's about 10% of the house. I figure they got ABB fans for $675,000 that year. Cops did NOTHING.

They look in the mirror just fine. They are narcissists and sociopaths. They could care less about other people. There are Bernie Madoff's at all levels and they not only feel it is their right to screw you, they think you deserve it for being so gullible. That is where the narcissism comes in. They are the top fish and they eat the littler fish. There are more sociopaths around than we would like to believe. Well, that is if we continue to keep our heads in the sand about sociopaths and trust them as if they weren't when all evidence points to the fact they are ripping other people off and manipulating others all the time. Just be glad the person is not your husband or wife or lover.

Sorry you got gipped. Next time by from a fan as they do often have extras and not those scalpers out front. You can usually tell the difference. All you needed to do was have a little patience and observe. The players usually play a while and like I said they play in the open (they feel they are in the right) so that if you had just spent ten minutes observing them, you would know who they are.

That sucks. I haven't heard of fake tickets since the 2009 run. I tried really hard to get into the 2nd Clapton night. I hadn't gone to a show without a ticket in hand in years but I wanted in to that historic show. Right away there was the usual crew of scalpers with the very few remaining tickets at very high prices. There was another crew of guys who looked even shadier than the usual scalpers and they had a lot of tickets for $ 200.00 a pop. I noticed one of the regular scalpers telling the counterfiters to get lost and away from them. I knew right away those guys were selling fakes and I saw some kids get turned away at the door. Tuff break and the guys who sold the fakes were gone once they got the money so it wasn't like the kids could go after them or point them out to the cops. If you are going to try and buy outside the show, take your time and observe what's going on and better yet, wait for a regular fan who might be looking to unload an extra first.

Was all set to meet a guy to buy tickets for cash - great tix, great price... when I told him I wanted to meet at the box office and verify they were real before giving the money, I never heard another word from him.

Be careful out there.

I had the same experience with a guy in '09. Actually made a time to meet at box office and he never showed.

I kind of had a similar situation in 2009 but it ended turning out ok thanks to a good guy at the Beacon/MSG Ticket office. I bought a pair of tix from a guy on e-bay, he had good feedback and sold a ton of tix so I figured I was safe, well..when I got the tix, I noticed in the area that normally says "adult", it said "Transfer", WTF right! so I asked the guy why they said this and he said he didnt know and that he got them from Ticketmaster. So I called the ticket office and come to find out they are Handicap Tix, and when the ticket office looked them up he said the guy bought them and said he uses a Cane. so not only did I get screwed, but he was also screwing someone with a Handicap that could have legitimately bought them. I explained to the guy at the office what happened and he had me send the tickets back to him, then he sent me new ones that were actually cheaper than i paid on ebay and were the same seats but now they said "Adult". I also got the guy from e-bay to refund me my money. It was a very stressful situation and definately a lesson learned!

Someone on Craigslist today was selling a Row A orchestra seat for tonight's show, $100. It seemed too good to be true, so I didnt bother going for it. I was tempted though. But no way that thing was real if they were selling it for that much below face value.

How would you arrange to get the ticket?
I would ask to meet at the box office and have the ticket scanned to see if it's legit?

I wouldnt force them to come to the Beacon with me (the guy was supposedly located in the Upper East Side). I would just ask for his full name and if they turned out to be fakes, I'd warn him that he'd get hunted down.

Waited in vain for tix last night - none to be had.

Unfortunately - a good buddy of mine, concert goer for 30+ years, fell victim to the fake ticket scam. Bought two in the loge for $300 that were counterfeit. I saw them before he went in - damn, those counterfeiters are getting good. Buyers - beware!

FYI - he bought the tickets right outside the 72nd Street train station.

Where in the line were you?

We were about 11th. About 7.20pm some idiot from the Dolan Regime (identifiable by the wire in his ear and the walkie talkie he kept dropping) came out and screamed at everyone in line that "there are no tickets available, and there will be none". The first 10 people in line just took him for his word and bolted.

Now we are 1st. I ask him a series of questions to which he knows the answers to none. Told him I'd bet at least 6 tickets come out that window and inform him we are waiting. End of story, two in row CC dead center.

And a number of other people got into the show. Person behind us was row 4 loge. Etc...

6 tickets came out of that window for the 2nd Clapton show and EVERYONE KNEW Clapton would be there. If 6 come out for that show then it's a good bet that at least a few will come out for every show.
