Are there any good CD shops worth visiting in NY or have they closed down?

I was just in the East Village recently. I don't have any names of CD shops but there were tons. There was one by the "Cafe Wa?" that had many bootlegs for the brothers. Tons of Jack Pearson shows.

I used to sink a lotta cash into CD bootlegs, but i don't know; mightn't you find much of that stuff online now for less cash, if any? Those CD boots are expensive....

I worked in the village for many years. Avoid ALL those bootleg shops - Generation Records, etc. You pay $40 for a show you can listen to on Wolfgangs Vault for free, or can trade for here with no effort.

Want a cool one? Other Music, which is on East 4th.

Nice selection of stuff you wouldn't normally see in stores; a cool staff that genuinely knows and loves music; cool environment.

Definitely a place to check out.

Go to Bleecker Street in the Village. There are several including Bleecker St. Records. Big selection of used and new cds, tons of vinyl in the basement.

There are a few others in the neighborhood too.

Browsing cool independent CD shops is one of my very most favorite things to do when I'm in NYC, after catching live music and eating at as many delis as I can....

Bleecker Bob's on West 3rd Street near Macdougal St. Like Bleecker St Records. Lots of rare finds and bootlegs. Worth a visit.

Astor Place in St Marks is the street your looking for. About 10 shops on that one block.

J&R Music World, Bleecker St. Records (as opposed to
Bleecker Bob's), Normans Sound And Vision - in that order.

Bleecker Bob's was selling DVD bootlegs of Moogis broadcasts last time I was there. I was not surprised in the least. Butch should send somebody over to rough them up.

If he sends some thugs over there to rough people up, they should wear camera-hats so that they can film the beating, and then they could put the video on the internet and charge poeple money to watch it.
