Just saw that there are a bunch of post shows at the Iridium Jazz Club during the Beacon run.
Thinking about catching the Jaimoe Jasssz Band show on 3/19.

I have been reading a lot of bad reviews about the club and they also have a "arrive 15 minutes prior" to showtime rule. Does that mean i wont get in even with tickets if I am not there 15 minutes before? It'll be quite the scramble going from the Beacon to that place in such a short amount of time.

Anybody have any thoughts about the Iridium and/or their policies? Would really like to know before i buy tickets.

The Iridium rocks!!! It's a small venue, great sound, very laid back staff. Drinks and food are expensive, however. The 15 minute thing probably has to do with not arriving too early for the previous show. I doubt you will have problems getting in if you have a ticket.

Man looking at the menu the food is borderline fine dining prices and buds are $7 each... just to give you an idea.

There is a $15 pp food/drink minimum as soon as you sit down also, I think the real challenge would be staying at only $15 pp with those prices.

FYI - The Iridium website also has a link in the bottom left (purple colored) titled COUPONS & PROMOTIONS.
I clcked on it last week and was able to print a coupon for one free drink not to exceed $12
I tried it again this morning and it's giving me an error message. Not sure why. Perhaps you will have better luck with it.

Food and drink ARE expensive, and as stated above, there is a minimum food/drink charge in addition to the ticket cost. You are better off eating before you get there. You might as well have a couple of drinks, since you have to pay for them anyway. If you don't do alcohol, you can probably drink $15 worth of coke there without too much trouble, or share an appetizer.

They typically have all tables, although there may be limited standing room.

During the week, when the shows are not too crowded, they often waive the ticket price for the second show and require only the food/drink minimum. I don't know what will be up for the weekend shows.

I think you can also find coupons on Facebook, if you search for Iridium and then for coupons. There is an app that lets you select from a range of different coupons to print and bring with you.

Pretty good article on these shows on pollstar right now:
http://pollstar.com/blogs/news/archive/2011/03/10/759146.aspx

Did they just get announced or something?

What an added bonus, seeing and hearing Duane's Goldtop at the shows. I assume the special guests each night will alternate between Derek and Warren?

I'm inclined to give it a shot, assuming they're still letting folks in, and assuming we're not too shot from a day of flying and playing. Went to the Irridium site, tickets looked a bit pricey. Plus there's the 15-minute thing. So didn't get advance tix. I hope we get to go.

I got advanced tickets, the 15 minute thing confuses me also. ESPECIALLY when I am sure 75% of the fans are coming directly from the Beacon show. It will nearly be impossibly to get there at 11:45 if the Beacon show doesnt end until 11:30.
