http://www.derekandsusan.net/news/introducing-trucks-tedeschi-band

"Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi and their band mates are very pleased to announce that their group will now be performing under a new name. After much careful deliberation, we are proud to re-introduce Tedeschi Trucks Band!

Yes, it’s two less words, one less ampersand, 13 fewer letters, and a full 50% reduction in syllables! Plus it makes for a much cleaner acronym, TTB, thus continuing the grand tradition of previous band acronyms like DTB and STB. We look forward to making many memories as Tedeschi Trucks Band over the years to come.

With the band name in place and an unparalleled lineup of musicians on-board, Tedeschi Trucks Band is set to tour the world and support their debut album, to be released in early June. Check out the Tour page for the full schedule of concerts, which already includes performances in three continents and six countries, with many more to come.

We’ll have much more info to share about the album in the coming days and weeks. Be sure to check the official website, www.TedeschiTrucksBand.com, for the latest announcements. (If you currently use www.DerekAndSusan.net, it is the same website, and that address and all user accounts will still work going forward.)

Tedeschi Trucks Band can’t wait to hit the road for the first leg of their 2011 World Tour, which features special one-night-only performances at a series of highly intimate venues throughout the Eastern Seaboard. Remember to check www.TedeschiTrucksBand.com/Events for concert and ticket information, and be sure to sign up for the newsletter for updates as new concerts are being added regularly.

The touring lineup for Tedeschi Trucks Band will be announced soon. In the mean time, here are the musicians who were primary contributors to the TTB debut album:

Susan Tedeschi – Guitar/Vocals
Derek Trucks – Guitar
Kofi Burbridge – Keys/Flute
Oteil Burbridge – Bass
Tyler Greenwell – Drums/Percussion
J.J. Johnson – Drums/Percussion
Mike Mattison – Background Vocals
Mark Rivers – Background Vocals
Ryan Shaw – Background Vocals
David Ryan Harris – Background Vocals
Kebbi Williams – Saxophone
Saunders Sermons – Trombone
Maurice Brown – Trumpet

Special guests:

Eric Krasno - Acoustic Guitar
Alam Khan - Sarod"

Really enjoyed the Jacksonville Florida Theater NYE show. Over the top comes to mind. Really happy the horn players are a permanent part of the band, very savvy, they bring a whole other very cool dimension to the band. Come to Chicago or Milwaukee soon!!!

This was always the obvious band name (with or without the "Band").

It's a lots of people to tour round the world with, inc Australia and New Zealand, so you can see where Derek's Beacon profits may be spent!

Looking forward so much to seeing them in Europe this summer (next time, Derek, come into O'Neill's!!!).

Just wait til you hear them on the album...

On that note, Thursday isn't just night one of the ABB run but also the day we're announcing details about the Tedeschi Trucks Band debut album. Better yet, you'll be able to download a full track from the album starting Thursday, free of charge. Stay tuned for details...

http://creativeallies.com/design-contest/211-DESIGN-A-LOGO-FOR-TEDESCHI-TRU CKS-BAND

After many years on the road building separate, successful solo careers, husband-and-wife duo Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi have joined musical forces. Well-known for their outstanding live performances and swampy mix of rootsy, rockin' American music, Tedeschi and Trucks have pulled together a new 11-member ensemble overflowing with talent and some familiar faces like brothers Oteil Burbridge (noted for years as bassist with the Allman Brothers Band) and Kofi Burbridge (longtime keyboardist with The Derek Trucks Band).

With a new album on the horizon for early summer, and tour dates starting in April, Tedeschi and Trucks have come to Creative Allies for help in designing a logo for the band name: Tedeschi Trucks Band. Learn more about the band, and hear some of the new tunes at tedeschitrucksband.com.

Midnight In Harlem [Video]

Nobody's Free [Video]

Look Around [Video]

Design an iconic logo for Tedeschi Trucks Band to be used on t-shirts for their upcoming tour.

Design Requirements:

* Submit unique original work.
* Include the text "Tedeschi Trucks Band".
* With roots in northern Florida, the band's music is always infused with blues, soul and a dash of swamp magic. The logo should capture the band’s spirit - but we're casting a wide net, so let the creative juices flow where they will and don't get too literal.
* The winning design will be printed in a number of formats, so keep in mind the screenprinting process and don't use more than four colors.
* The winning designer should be able to provide a layered .psd or .ai/.eps version of your design.

Design Don'ts:

* Avoid cliche visual references to guitars, picks, amps, trucks, etc.
* Don't use stock photography or copyrighted images

http://TedeschiTrucksBand.com/

The winning designer will receive $500 plus a signed CD and T-shirt. You may submit multiple designs. The deadline to upload designs is midnight PST on Monday, March 21th, 2011.

I sent this to PorckchopBob!

I'd still like to see Derek and Susan take a stab at making up their own band name one day, but at least this will save some space on CD and iTunes labels. Very, very excited to learn and hear more about the album later this week!

I was kind of hoping they'd go with "Tedeschi, Trucks & Burbridge" but that's doesn't exactly roll off the tongue like Crosby, Stills & Nash.

The Burbridge brothers seem to be a real creative key in this band.

They can call the band whatever they want. I can't wait to see them again.

No question about that, but really, the whole band are major creative contributors. So it would have to be "Tedeschi, Trucks, Burbridge, Burbridge, Greenwell, Johnson, Mattison & Rivers," which doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

Damn! This is one rough and tough lookin' group pf cats - especially the one in the dress.

Check the fingerless gloves. :-O

They look like they mean business!

I like the shorter name. Short, neat, sensible - straight, no chaser.

Can't wait for dates. Hopefully some in WNY.

Very interesting to learn of David Ryan Harris' involvement in the new record, although it appears limited to just vocals. DRH is one heckuva great songwriter and guitar player.

Agreed on Bros. Burbridge involvement. I sure hope (expect!) that they are part of the touring lineup to be announced soon.

Milkbone!

FOUR backup vocalists and a horn section? Wow!

It ought to be called Trucks Tedeschi Band. Derek is DA MAN, give him his due!
To have it named Tedeschi Trucks is emasculating. Derek deserves top billing. He's just too nice of a guy to argue about it, but his soft spoken demeanor does not mean he should come second. Ever!

LOL!! I wanted to make the same comment (all in good fun, of course), but thought I would get ripped for being sexist.

I'm glad you did it, and not me!!

(We can see who wears the pants in the family! LOL! Just kidding.)

She could do a whole lot worse!

Maybe they went alphabetical to get a higher Yellow Pages listing!

Agreed. haven't heard this particular incarnation; but what I've heard previously (while good) leaves me feeling the sum is less than the parts. I just don't think that T & T have styles that complement each other

P.S. - Not to be sexist but I doubt whether Susan lets him play poker.
