ALLMAN BROTHERS @ ROSELAND - 11/22/10 - FRANKLINS TOWER
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ny4z9APTZYw

Listening to a different version then the one linked and Otiels vocals sounded good. So I got thinking that it would be cool if he got to sing a little more often with the ABB. If this happened what songs would be a good fit?

Oteil is a wonderful singer and all around musician. he could sing anything.

Unfortunate to be in a band with 2 other great singers in Warren and Gregg.
Or he would get to sing more.

And Marc does a great job on backup vocals also.

the band is blessed with an abundance of good singers.

I couldn't agree more! Beautiful voice and has paid more than enough dues.

Agreed.

But he needs some new songs.

So does Warren.

Gregg's the only vocalist who has had his song book grow over the last 8 years.

I doubt he will sing more, although i also dig Oteil's vocals...He didn't even sing a lot w/his own band The Peacemakers so I don't see it happening...

I hope they work up a few new covers this year. The shows have been starting to seem the same.

For some reason I believe he could fare well on the vocals for "Tears of a Clown" and the rest of the band could make that song fit the ABB as well. Dunno, just think the song is one of the most underrated rockers out there, especially with the way that bass turns it in just the right parts.

That's a song the new Warren Haynes Band might well cover. I've heard Warren sing it with the Phil Lesh Q.

Yeah, I remember seeing it on setlists, but never heard any versions. Regardless, I think Oteil would be a better fit on vocals. "Band of Gold" is another rocker, but I DON'T imagine any dudes singing that song.

I love the way Oteil does Anyday! Oteil is one funky dude so i say him and Warren team up for some funky Stevie Wonder cover and let Oteil take the reigns!
