Ok I have yet to read any rumors for this years Beacon run. Anyone willing to venture on some guests? I haven't checked any scheduled appearances of other folks around the NYC area for these upcoming weeks.

Here we go ...

Dr. John is in town the 14th. With him playing on Gregg's new cd I would say he's a pretty good bet. Leon Russel is in town also.

2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

The 26th annual ceremony will take place on Monday, March 14, 2011, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City and will be broadcast exclusively on Fuse, Madison Square Gardenís national music television network, on Sunday March 20 at 9 p.m. EST.

The performer Inductees are:
∑ Alice Cooper will be inducted by Rob Zombie (White Zombie)
∑ Neil Diamond will be inducted by Paul Simon
∑ Dr. John will be inducted by John Legend
∑ Darlene Love will be inducted byBette Midler
∑ Tom Waits will be inducted by Neil Young

Ahmet Ertegun Award recipients (nonperformers):
∑ Jac Holzman will be inducted by John Densmore (the Doors)
∑ Art Rupe will be inducted by Lloyd Price

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Award for Musical Excellence (previously the Sidemen category):
∑ Leon Russell will be inducted by Elton John

The 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performer inductees were chosen by more than 500 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first recording.

All inductees are ultimately represented in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. Through approaches as creative and diverse as the music itself, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum tells the story of rock music with its exhibits, education programs and Library and Archives.

Presenters and performers at the induction will be announced at a later date. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be broadcast on Fuse; more information can be found at fuse.tv.

Al DiMeola is playing 3-10-13 in NYC. Not sure how the ABB would fit him in, but I'd like to see them try!

Maybe this guy?:

Furthur will be in New York for some of the first weekend but it looks like the most of the shows would conflict.

Same with Soulive in Brooklyn. Kraz could set in for a couple during the first set

Anyone else here...kind of over the whole "Guest thing"?.....I mean, I realize some dig all of the guest appearances..For me, that one artist that would really compliment the band's sound.....

I would love to hear Delbert McClinton and Gregg bust out an old standard together, Delbert blowing a little harp.

That, would be cool

I predict Elton John will join them one night (Elton and Gregg played together during the T-Bone Burnett benefit a few months back and seemed to get along real well - would be interesting to see them wheel out a grand piano and let Elton play some old stuff with the boys - Burn down the mission; and maybe him and Gregg could do dueling piano versions of Oncoming traffic and These Days - would definitely be different). Also, Rod Stewart is in town at the end of March - maybe he joins them for some faces tunes (Warren covers some of them so it might fit nicely; while Hot Legs would truly be an interesting thing to see them do - I said interesting - not necessarily good).

Man, shows start in two days still no sign of guest leaks, makes me think there might not be any guests at all or if there are your typical Susan T appearence etc.

Not that I mind at all, I can take or leave guests. Just saying there is usually a leak by now..

As tickets are sold out, leaking a guest list only ups the market value for the secondary market (doesn't really benefit ABB). Though Butch and Moogis would benefit from a leak... so I guess it is surprising there hasn't been one yet.

Jeff Beck will be at the Beacon 3/28 so maybe he stops by a day or two early...

It was almost exact in 2009. I feel like last years run had minimal guests.

It just felt like there were few because in 09 there were so many... If you compare the guest list to five years ago it probably wasn't that different. Also, guests probably didn't want to go all the way uptown...

One of my favorite guests and is a part of almost every Beacon run is Chuck Leavell. "jessica" with Chuck on the keys always brings the house down!!!

Me too! Chuck Leavell!! anytime. Otherwise I also agree that guests while different, sometimes detract from the core band, barring that Clapton night.

I think Elton is a great artist, but doesn't feel like a great Beacon w/ the ABB fit to me......styles are very different. Although I do like some of the old Faces material, I feel the same way about Rod stewart at this point.

Not to nit-pick, but since many of us are music geeks here, I believe Layla (if you are referring to the song) would be 41 years from its release date this year....right? If you are referrig to the name of a guitar or something, then I have no idea.

I would be really surprised if EC shows up again.
I feel like the 40th anniversary run was very special and a once in a lifetime type thing.

He has no affiliation with the Fillmore East show, not even sure what his place would be in that show, if they are playing the entire set its not like they will bust in to Derek and the Dominos tunes.

He could always sit in on a Stormy Monday or a few songs like that but i doubt he is there.

With that said I HOPE I AM WRONG!
