Wharfie!!!!! I am not on Facebook so I did not know of your workout successes. Good for you!! You keep on keepin on. Positive energy is very important. Surround yourself with that and shed the negative and that alone will make you feel lighter. Who knows, maybe the negative folks around you will be inspired by you and they will come over to the light side. If not, so be it. Most negative people are that way because they don't feel good about themselves. If they don't want to change themselves, don't let them stop you from making the changes you want. You ROCK

Thanks Red

Sadly, I have no family support whatsoever.. But thats ok.
God knows I have tried to get them in line with what I am doing, but I get is a groan or a roll of the eyes.
They can remain negative if they want - but I cant, and WONT.
I still have an incredible support system anyway, so its all good!

Like you said, Wharfie, you have to want it. You can't get people on board unless they want it. Deep down, they probably do, but are afraid of the effort it requires. Keep showing them the way by doing what you're doing. You definitely have Peach Family support.

Croky,Stacey,Wharfie and everyone going for it, keep it up and keep it positive. I'm back on the treadmill with a collection of old movies (Two dreadmill sessions per Charlie Chan mystery) with light weights. Your stories inspired me. *smile*
Exercise is also a great way to chase those blues away. Getting the adrenaline flowing and endorphins rising can really make a difference.

Wow - just amazing - congrats to all of you struggling but keep on keepin' on - you are all inspiring me to get back up there and start putting one foot in front of the other - tough to do since the treadmill holds up my sweats - lol But truly I am admiring all of you

Yeserday was a rest day. Today its 4 sets of pull ups, bar dips, and push ups, then 4 miles on the treadmill. Had to tighten my belt a notch yesterday. Glad to see everyone haging in there.

Alright, if y'all would allow me a rant...

So, as mentioned before, had a fantastic annual physical last week, good numbers up, bad numbers down, over 30 lbs of weight loss in the last 2 years. Recently started walking outside after two years on the treadmill. Loving it! Except...I musta done pult to stretched or twisted or something because the muscle behind my left knee (popliteus?) start hurting like hell yesterday and now today, hurts to walk. I mean really hurts. Annoying as the dickens. Here I start doing the right thing and look where it gets me. Maybe this eat right and exercise business is just a buncha BS...eff it. Tonight I'm gonna have a rare steak with butter and a fried egg on top with a pack of smokes and a bottle of booze. Eff it eff it eff it. Get all active and get all addicted to the exercise and look what it got me!!!! ARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!

/rant

Or, I could just take some ibuprofen and slow down a bit until I get over it. Whichever.

If you can't work your lower body, work your upper. Get down on the ground and do some damn push-ups. Or lift some weights. Just stop crying...

That is one of the most frustrating things that happens to me. You're feeling good, doing well and then you get hurt.
See if a knee brace will help, Jerry. I get nagging aches and pains so I use braces or Ace bandages to give me a little more support. Helps immensely.

i've had very serious knee problems for about 12 years now, including the exact pain you describe behind the knee--in my case i went to a sports medicine clinic & both the orthopedist & physical therapist have helped me manage my knee problems to date....

i realize i still tend to overdo it,but the high i get from strenuous workouts, weights & aerobics,is awesome.

Finally,if ya read back on this thread i referred to diet & supplements--things like d-ribose,coconut water,& other stuff i take,as well as routines to strengthen the muscles around the knee, which have proved very helpful so far...& that's for a guy with arthritis in both knees & with very little cartlidge remaining.

Nonetheless there are injuries...& they are VERY frustrating, therefore suggesring that switching up the muscles you work requires consideration...

hope you heal soon!

I might have to try this.
My right shoulder is pretty much trashed.. It was practically bone on bone 20 years ago, so I am sure that is all that is left now.
Doesnt affect me with day to day stuff ( its bearable), only really when I am lifting- then OUCH.
But I continue on anyway, I just avoid any kind of shoulder press or any over the head activity

Replied

Well, my weigh in was tonight, and I guess the tweaking of my cardio workouts have paid off.. -5.2lbs this week! I am expecting a "down" week next week now, just because that seems to be my pattern.

I did just make a realization though - with this loss I have lost 1/3 of my total beginning weight.. just WOW.

I would be lying if I said I wasnt a little emotional when I realized this..
