Blew off running yesterday and just kicked it. Rode bikes with my son but nothing to break a sweat on. Today it's off to the pool.

Keep Rocking along everyone. Cheers!

Nice run in the woods yesterday. Saw one rabbit and a tarantula.

LOL! I remember once running through the neighborhood early one summer morning. All of a sudden, a buck jumped out of someone's yard. Scared the absolute %^*@!! out of me. I think I startled him too. Of course he took off and left me in the dust.

Another time there was the pretty blond out running and she stopped and bent over to tie her shoe... I was good for another 5 miles after that view!

Had the same issue last night in the park. He just kinda stopped and stared as I ran by. Weird that he didnt seem scared at all.

Scale has pretty much came to a halt, mostly due to my own effups.
Working on that now though.

Doc finally gave me a "target weight" of 230.
24 more to go

Nice, comfortable 3 miler this morning in 27:40. Running in the mornings is so relaxing, sets the tone for the day.

Well...I ran the Corporate Challenge last Thursday. I completed the 3.5 miles in 39:37. It was a wonderful night to run through Central Park. We started right near Strawberry Fields on our beloved West 72nd Street so of course I had some Beacon thoughts running through my head before my feet took over the running responsibilities.

In talking to people before the run I was feeling pretty good about it and my abilities until they would say things like "....but I'm so out of shape right now and I'm really slow and only run 10 min miles"

Huh? I've been thrilled to be able to get my 3 miles in after getting home from work in 30 minutes. I felt a little deflated hearing people describe this as sooooOOooooOOooooo slow. But not for long. Even though I ended up running at an 11:19 pace, I'm happy with getting it done under 40 min. and enjoyed my first experience running with thousands of people.

Let's help remind each other that its not about how fast, how far, or how much, its just about doing it, about living a healthier lifestyle. All the rest takes care of itsdelf as long as we will just get out there and do it!

That's not to say we shouldn't measure our progress and brag when we kick butt! I did a max on bench today for the first time in over a year, did 270 fairly easily. I was pleasantly surprised, since I've been doing sets of 15 with 160 for so long. Sweet.

Just finished the Friday run with some friends. Got some switchbacks plus some trails along with good conversation. Great swim in the pool yesterday: 3 X 500. Sunday will be a 5 miler with junior riding his bike. Enjoy the weekend everyone. Cheers!

Finished today's swim with a 50 Butterfly in 1 minute. The world record for the 100 Butterfly is 51 seconds... I wasn't in a hurry!

My goodness its hot out here! Went for a run yesterday evening about 5pm. Big mistake. It was 106! Almost killed me. All outdoor running will be in the early morning from now until October. That is all.

1200 yards non stop in the pool today. I could have kept on going too; felt strong and in control. I'm looking to do a mile (1800 yards) by the end of the summer.

Had a good 3 miler this am before it gets too hot. I'm eating too much though! I hate that I can't just eat as much of what I want anymore as long as I exercise. Weight is back to 222, YIKES! Portion control sucks, but its eithr that or go back to my Big Boy clothes. Ugh.

Ouch Doug... what a drag. Hopefully everyone is on the mend! Take it easy on your run too. No need to be in a hurry.

Jr. and I will get out for a bit this morning. He'll ride his bike while dad runs along.

Happy 4th Everyone! Keep up the good work!

I have now been 3 months no red meat. 2 months no chicken. 1 month no pork, Down to eggs and fish only for meat, will stay at this point. I have a new obsession, black bean veggie burgers, I flippin' love them. I think a combination of that and work stress has inadvertantly got me 8 pounds lighter, down to 190 tonight. I still squated 405 last Sunday, so no loss of strength. Mid body fat I think, somehow my metabolism changed with new diet. I like it, but want to not lose any more weight, but I do like this weight. It is like bulking up for mass and then dieting, you really don't look smaller, in a way bigger, as proportions come back, not blocky looking.

I have encountered a thing to deal with on squats.... 405 is fine, but higher weights put one heck of a load on the feet, and that appears to be the body part to need adapting over time. At 450 experiment a month or so ago, my feet hurt for a week. I still plan to do 500 before I am 60, so I have 3 and a half years to do it.

Found a new trail yesterday at the top of this switchback run that I do. It was quite the decent which means it will be quite the climb going up! I'll wait until it's the fall and a little cooler before doing that.

will do man!

Observations to date:

Red meat has NO appeal to me this far away from having ate it. In fact, the opposite. One thing I thought about: I have not cleaned a gross out greasy pan or utensil since no red meat. (draw artery analogy at will).

I can't explain it, other than I feel, more pure in my physical sense. I don't feel as "heavy" internally from I think having meats inside me every day and the harder digestitive process that comes with it.

I love carbs, juices, fish, some veggie stuff, yes eggs and it just feels "good" living on this stuff.

I do think maybe red meat is bad in regular intake as Americans do. Not sure on pork and poultry. What I do have against them in USA commercial bought form is the "stuff" they are pumped with in their unhealthy environment they are "raised" in. Hormones and who knows what. I need to switch to organic eggs. I will next buy. (old habit on the non) Watch Youtube stuff on chicken raising, pork, etc. It will revolt you.

I find myself in the organic section a lot. Being frugal I have resisted the higher prices. How can you think that way on things that could help you be healthier? Some of the premade veg organic meals are great and easy and not that much more expensive really. I am shocked I love this path, I always mocked health whacko's before

to each their own however. my right is only mine, for me to speak of.
