Running steps is awesome. A killer, but awesome. I might add that back in come spring. Weighed 220 this am, WHOOHOO! Nice light strength training today and some treadmill work. The increased cardio stuff has been great. I'm thinking about doing some boxing stuff, see if I can survive the workout.

Legs were fried from running steps the other day so I took a few days off. Got back in the pool this morning and had a good, relaxing workout.

This week will be two running days and two swimming days. I still need to get my mile swim in.

Those steps hurt to look at.

So my year started out with a whimper, was out of town week one, only got one out of town work out in at a gym in Albuqueque. It is always fun visiting a new gym. Helped some kid by spotting his benches, and I made him earn it, do one more, pushed him. He had a big smile for me when I left, he never was pushed me thinks .

So came back to Montana and got the flu. Really sick one week, no energy next week, and somehow missed a third week just not up to going. So a week ago went in did a couple workouts and felt terrible and weak, didn't push it too much. But went in today and squatted serious again, and 405 went great for a double. In the spirit of smart I stopped there. Next week hit 425 again, maybe try 455. Have to get serious, I turn 56 next week, haha. One guy in there is doing 560 so it is good to have someone to chase.

That is a workout tip by the way, hang with stronger lifters, it rubs off and keeps your ego in check.

I don't seem to have much of a problem keeping my ego in check at teh gym these days! Weighed 219 Sunday morning, looked in the mirror and realized to be truly fit I probably need to be somewhere around 205. Haven't weighed that since high school! Keep working folks. We all know it's worth it.

Nice job Doug! Earlier you mentioned you were shooting for 215. A pound a week and you'll be there by the end of the month!

Good for you bird getting back in the groove. I hate getting out of my workout routine when I get thrown a curve but it happens. After I've had the bug, I just take it easy the first couple of times too. Good luck!

Had a little set back this week, too much smoked brisket and sausage, potato salad, guacamole, etc., for the SuperBowl. Popped up to 222, but haven't missed a workout and my pants still fit! Light weight workout and 3.5 mile easy run planned for today. Stay after it folks.

I miss the rat!

Hit the pool today. Not one of my better efforts. Just wasn't feeling it so I swam a few laps and then just played around practicing flip turns. I did nut up and finish with a strong set but nothing I'm hanging my hat on.

Next week is either sink or swim. No more play time.

Tomorrow will be a 5 miler with my friends from work. First time we've run together in 3 months.

Go for it everyone!

Down 241 so far. About 50 left, but DAMN is this slowing down...
Lost maybe 2 lbs this month tops.

Can you say Plateau?

Heading out for a 7 miler on the boardwalk with one of my buds. First time I have pushed it past 6.

7 Miles? Wow,you da man. I have to remind myself from time to time that this is a lifestyle. I don't do it because of a number on a scale, but because it feels good, it's good for me, I feel good about what I accomplish, and I like it! The numbers will come over time. I've been battling the same 10 lbs for twenty years.

Hope everyone had a good week. Cheers!

Didn't want to work out today, felt tired and sore, had lots of stuff on my mind, just wasn't into it. Went anyway, still flet tired and sore, but by the time it was over I felt great! I love those kind of workouts. And I weighed 217! Keep on truckin' my brothers.

Finally a decent swim workout. Got my 1200 in 4 X 300. I think the half mile run to the pool helps. It's a good warm up. Hope to do the same on Thursday.

Another good day in the pool. Really stretched it out and some good turns.

Tomorrow will be a five miler and hopefully a trail run this weekend.

Keep up the good work everyone. Workouts are either good or great. They're never bad! Rock On!

Blew off the 5 miler and did the 7 miler instead. It's been almost a year since I did this run. Nice cruising pace especially up the hills. Glad it's over though!

It's Friday. Time to treat ourselves tonight! Cheers!

Great workout yesterday, nice run afterwards. Weighed 215 this am! YIPPEE! Now I can see I really need to get down to at least 205, so that's my new goal. Haven't weighed that since.....well, let's just say it's been a long time. We can make it if we try, so just keep on working.

If managed right a certain degree of stress can be motivating and energizing....

My weight loss is the running,lifting...but diet is key...

I basically eat lean protein(fish, turkey breast, chicken breast,tofu,beans,almonds....),vegetables(a lot), and certain fruits, olive oil daily....

Coconut water and d ribose for energy, electrolyte replenishment, and muscle repair.

Certain orthomolecular supplements,a lot of water....and I've gone in 2 1/2 years from 235 lbs. to 152 lbs.....almost my college weight...I'm about 6 feet,so I'm a skinny boy now....from size 42 to 33....

Today lifted and treadmilled 5.92 miles.

Feels good to do this, but the psychic lift and clarity of mind and creativity increases with all this....

Still got a bunch of medical ailments and orthopedic challenges, but doing my best....

As you all are!

Even if I don't work out the diet sheds pounds,is very healthy.....

Nice elliptical workout yesterday, I can really tell the difference since I started doing some kind of cardio every day. Still holding in the 215-217 range, feel great, not injuring myself like I used to! You folks rock.
