lol if you look, you can see his beer on the amp. id hafto say that this was the worst song of the night, the rest of them were better. having said that, it is hard to watch. but i still had a blast. id say the highlight of the show was LIz Reed, it was really good.

Dickey is one of my all time favs. His sound drug me into the ABB, but he is really hard to listen to/watch anymore. I haven't seen a good Dickey show in about 7 or 8 yrs. I stopped going 2 yrs ago, after 6 bad ones in a row.

I wish more of us could follow the Thumper Rule. The other posted video sounded much better to my ears. I hope Dickey keeps touring. If I were him, I would be playing shows in Florida in January.

One has to remember that Dickey is not traveling with the million dollar sound system that The ABB is blessed to be able to afford.
Beer on Dickey's amp? Beer in the hand of most everybody in the audience. Irrelevant. He was having a good time and that always makes for a great show. I don't care if he drinks. I don't drink but I used to - lots. Personal choice. And, if he drinks too much, it is not a moral failing, it's what the American Medical Association defines as a disease and an incurable one at that.
It is not for us to judge. If we put our money down to see him and he puts on a great show, that's all that matters to me.

Look at how good Gregg looks and sounds sober in comparison. Sad

The sound system has nothing to do with this!. if I pay money to see Dickey or whoever? I expect them to be coherent, and give me a show!. this is just plain SAD.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but in all fairness, this is one song and one video. Unless you were at the show, you can't judge the entire show from one tune.

Let's not do this again. It's so over done...please?

Dave, check out the NY Dickey show thread where MiMDog or whatever his name is attacked Rainy for defending Dickey in such a brutal and disrespectful way that I won't even post what he said to her here. Whatever people may think of a show there is no place for saying anything like that to any woman IMO, especially such a well liked member here.

Rainy has asked me to refrain from posting anything further about this guy so I will.

I saw it, Pete. Shame....

I have an idea who MiMDog is. I recognize the combative style.

the show was fun & hard driving...not perfect in sound or musically--but,a **** kickin' good ole time was had by all who attended....

i loved hearing Dickey's tone & his singing through most of the show was fine....

nice cool venue, nice people,& a nice party for all who attended....

DB does need to improve his relationships with with rugs & amps

If you liked it, I'm sure I would have liked it. Besides, all the dudes in Dickley's band are top notch players and dudes and they represent Dickey and the compositions well.

What does this have to do with the quality (or lack thereof) of the playing?

I agree, the video was painful to watch, with "nltrw" not being much better.

to be honest, the playing on sat. night wasn't always as good as it can be,but the spirit, the fun,the tone, the voice...it was just a nice time & for the most part,a nice & different way to hear the songs.

N1LTRW was not my favorite & Southbound was ok,but there were many really well played songs as well. And,i tend to enjoy all the ABB players(Dickey too--not that there's a choice!! lol) with their respective bands more than the ABB over the past 2-3 years.(Even though i still enjoy the current lineup on occasion)

Frankly, the ABB have become focused on one big guitar climax after another & it's lost its freshness & innovation for me.Lately if i listen to ABB it's the original band or the Dickey/Lamar/Chuck era--i'd still see them sometimes, but Derek & Warren are more interesting guitarists in their own bands,Oteil shines in the DT/ST Band,Jaimoe's band is excellent, & Gregg(album & live) plays great music without the ABB as well!
Nice to have choices & if someone differs that's cool....

I love that, "guitar climax". They're gotten overdone and a little boring (for ME). Derek and Warren are awesome artists but they ain't Dickey and Duane and they never will be.
Thank you for allowing me to share. LOL.
