Well, I checked my email this morning, and my mom surprised me with Joe Bonamassa tickets!!!!!!!!!!!! I saw him before in 2000 & 2002 when he was an opening act, now I'll get to see him do his own show. I'm seeing him in Dallas on Feb. 26.

Debating whether to go check him out in March as well. He's playing close by, but the cheapest tickets are $40! He's good, love the RAH DVD, but not sure he's that good.

If you get the chance, go. He is that good. Of course, you do have to like high octane guitar playing, that helps.

Yes, sorry about the confusion there. I saw his post then checked her website and it had Joe's name listed on there for an upcoming project so I got a little excited. But yes, he just updated his FB saying it is in fact Tal Bergman on drums, not Tal Wilkenfeld on bass.

I know he's great, seen him as an opener a couple times and saw him headline once, but it's been a few years since I've seen him.

It's more a question of too many good shows coming around the same time. I'm seriously considering checking out the Robert Johnson Centennial concert when it comes through Ann Arbor in Feb., then in March in Michigan we have Bonamassa in Saginaw, Jeff Beck playing in A2, Johnny Winter in Flint (where I live, and I've yet to see him live) and the announcement of a Bob Seger tour in March, which I imagine will start in Michigan, probably Saginaw or Grand Rapids.

So I could probably do two of these shows, now it's just deciding which ones.

I'm hoping to have a chance to see him in Ames, IA on Sat., March 5. Joe was great at Crossroads. Got to meet him outside our hotel. He was very friendly and just a regular guy.

Wow...that RAH link opened my eyes to 2 things right off the bat
1-That cat is a virtuouso....that was a smoking hot medley
2-He is playing a Gold flying V that is eeriely similar to the one that Luther Allison plays on the DVD/CD that I just got a couple of week or so past from Montreal. Anyone know if there is a link between those guitars....ya just dont see that many Gold Flying V's

This sounds groovy. Does he have a choreographer and a stage show? 'Cause you know, that's what makes the music.

If you haven't seen him you're missing the boat. His fingers move faster than I can think. And if you're lucky he'll play some acoustic stuff. Fantastic guitar player. His shows are getting a little pricey but he's playing in small places. See him if you can. You won't be disappointed.

I think he is great. Like W & D. And even more so because he does a lot more blues rock material. Get JB: Live from nowhere in particular to give you a flavor of his shows. Gi see him if you can. He plays a lot of theaters and though the tickets are more expensive than the clubs, they are well worth the show. I've seen him three times and each time every second of the show was fantastic. His band is very good. His drummer will be new the next tour but the bass player and keys guy are very good and they have been with hm for at least the last few years since I started to listen to Joe. He has a new cd coming out soon too. The last two cds were on the blues chart both of them in the top ten (or twenty?) for over a year. John Henry and Black Rock, which was his last cd. Black Rock was recorded in Greece and has a middle eastern flair due to the Greek instruments he used to accompany the basic instruments. I liked it that cd a lot and John Henry, the one before. If you like Blues rock and you love great lead guitar work, go see Joe Bonamassa. He plays mostly Gibsons but also uses a Fender here and there. Run, don't walk to go and see him. LOL.

Funny. He's actually a bit of a showman. Different than W&D. More out-going than they are.

Deb - how about the Ames show? I'd love to see you again.

Will someone please recommend to me which recording to start my Joe B. collection with? I'm a guitarist and would prefer something guitar oriented along the blues-rock or blues lines.

Studio - I like "Blues Deluxe".
Live - My favorite: "A New Day Yesterday Live".
Ass kickin' guitar - Check out the "Black Country Communion" CD.

Love Joe.. I'm looking at this Kitty (and at the Adler show if my Mississippi River friends are interested). Do not have tickets yet but will keep you updated. Would love to see you and Brandt again and we'll have to make plans to meet up somewhere for some pre-show get-together if things pan out.

I still have to find out if it's Brandt's weekend to work or not. Don't have tix yet. I also need to contact my brother, John, since he'd probably like to go if he's not supposed to be in Colorado at that time. I'd sure love to see you for a drink or 2 before the show if we can all make it!

Wow! The playing in this video is pretty great. I've heard some of his stuff a while ago and thought it was little shreddy for my tastes, but this is good.
Only thing is, all of the ear-cupping, standing on the amp, and posing kind of turns my stomach. I think he's someone I would rather listen to than see live.
