For personal use only ( ) I use Foobar2000. One time only setup (to download and install Lame, specify target folder etc)
Load folder ( as if you're going to play that music), select the files, right click and select convert with last used option.
Works for me.

I'll totally understand if it's too stupid a question but what is flac?
I just got my Technique 1200 fixed, picking it up this morning and planing to buy a Behringer usb adapter to put all my rock and hundreds of dance 12'' lps on to my computer and I heard that mp3 isn't the best sounding. If someone could point me to an article or fill me in I'd be oh so grateful.

Where is the option on the FLAC Frontend to convert FLAC files to mp3's?

Could stir up a techie hornets nest, but.......you can get mp3 to almost sound as good as Flac or Wav in my book. You just have to crank up an equalizer. Least thats what I do in my car, and it sounds near cd to me. Just get the bit rate on the mp3 to 320. And turn up the treble and bass.
Flac and Wav sound better, but mp3 is still pretty good for me. Im running from the nest now!!!!!!! RUN, RUN, lol

One of the few benefits of having bad hearing is that I am not bothered by the difference between flac and mp3.

it doesn't do MP3

does Flac, Shn, APE, Wavpak, Apple lossless, TTA,

You can use xact to get the flac to say apple lossless , then use Itune to covert it to MP3.

there are other ways to make it sound crappy.

your ears have been damaged by listening to MP3 cranked too loud to try and compensate for the lossy format.

see a audiologist STAT!

WOW! I never knew TLH converted FLAC to mp3's!

I've always had it and always use it to convert to WAVE. Also use it to verify the md5/footprints.

Thanks nebish.

XLD will convert FLAC to MPEG4-AAC, which, essentially, is the same as mp3

Flac Frontend converts to Wav but I'm not sure if it's free. Lately I am using 4Musics but that wasn't free.

This made me almost spit out my beer from laughing.....

Sadly, I agree and not really sure what all the hubbub is about, that is ... with my hearing.

FLAC Frontend is very free.
I downloaded it just the other day to see how it converts to mp3's? Someone posted that it did and I never knew that.
I still don't know how thus my earlier post asking how?

I used FLAC Frontend exclusively for quite some time to convert FLAC to Wave.
I replaced it with TRADERS LITTLE HELPER ( http://tlh.easytree.org/ ) because it converts both FLAC and SHN.
Now I learned it converts FLAC to mp3's.
It's a keeper because it also does verification of md5 and Footprints.
