Yesterday I had to put my airedale terrier, Seamus, down due to bad health. Many of you met him during my pre Red Rocks parties-he was a gentle giant (too big for an airedale and that cost him). He has had hip problems for 2 years and the last 6 months I really had to help him a lot (which I sure did not mind). He was not able to get up during the night Sunday and we woke to him sleeping in his own poop-he apparently didn't try to get up or call us, so it was time.
I am having a hard time going thru my daily routine today as he did things with me, so I am a little lost today. At least we have our little westie, Smilla, to hug now.
I do like the great Rainbow Bridge fantasy and like to think I'll see my old dogs again. Good bye to my old friend-a great dog!

Sorry to hear about this Jack. Remember the good times you had with Seamus . BTW, Immediately thought of Blue Floyd and their famous version of the song - a big Airedale fits the mental image just right...

Oh Jack the last time we talked, he wasn't doing well and you were having to carry him up the stairs to go out, etc. I know both you and Phyllis gave him all the love you had to give. I'm sorry for the loss of your dear friend. I had the chance to meet him twice. He was such a sweet tempered dog. Sending love and comfort to you and Phyllis.

My sympathies & condolences for your loss of Seamus, Jack.

It just doesn't seem fair that our canine family don't have the same life span as we do. Time is getting close for my beagle Daisy and I'll be dealing with the same sense of loss in the near future myself.

Jack, I'm really sorry to hear about Seamus. I can recall pics you've posted here of both he and Smilla. Comforting thoughts are going out to you and Phyllis and Jason... it's so hard losing these 4 legged members of our families (and lives). I'm sending a message up to Lola to be on the lookout for him ... maybe get a game of chase started.

Very sorry for your loss Jack! Been there and done that a few times now and I know how hard it is. Not much different than losing a human family member although many can't understand that. Prayers going out to you and I too hope that Rainbow Bridge really exists.

Very, very sorry to hear this Jack.

Seamus was larger than life in many ways. I remember sitting on your living room couch when Seamus decided I looked like a pretty comfortable cushion. I'd probably still be on the couch if you hadn't gotten him up.

I always considered him a co-host of your RR get-togethers. He was a very sweet pooch.

We lost a dog less than a year ago ourselves, they really are a family member.

RIP Seamus, hope you're having a heavenly dog bone right now.

My best to you and Phyllis, Jack.

Awe Jack, I am sorry to hear this news. What a good buddy Seamus was. He had such a good friend in you too. It's one of the hardest things to go through. I'm thinking of you.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

~ Seamus ~

My heart is breakin' for ya's, many of us have felt this pain, yet we wouldn't have it any other way

((( BIG HUG ))) & Comforting Vibes being sent
