Who's going to the Greg Allman show @ The Bowery Ballroon?
I've never been there before. I checked and learned that capacity is under 600! That's intimate.

I have been there a few times. It is very small. When you enter you go downstairs to the bar and they make people wait there. Then they open up the ballroom which is upstairs. It has a very small balcony that goes around. Its a great spot if you're on the rail. The floor gets crowded especially for sold out shows.

Owing to the weather I don't see myself arriving early enough to secure the rail.

Excellent show--loved hanging with Alan,Deb,Pete,Doug,& Chank...

setlist was standard, more or less--Gregg was in very good form(seemed to have a bit of a cold),the band is stellar & consists of top tier musicians, the songs from the new album were nice to have,& it was a real treat to be there...

some highlights:

Warren sitting in on Dreams--on that song besides Warren's sweet tone,Jay & Scott were having a blast playin' off one another...Bruce playing Monk like chords,Jay sounding Coltrane based...

Jerry & Steve are a great rhythm section & Floyd's songs were excellent...

Just like a Woman--Gregg hit a home run...some soulful singing...

Jay's flute was nice....

overall a great nite & pretty good venue too...

Good summation! I can't add anything more.

Bowery Ballroom is an intimate and cozy little hall.

Big-time old time NY Metro concert promoter Ron Delsner introduced Greg and band. Ron said he introduced the ABB at a Central Park concert 40 sumthin' years ago.
He plugged Greg's new cd saying how much he liked it and didn't "throw it out the window".

Great show. My wife and I stood right behind the sound booth, off the side with a perfect view of Gregg. Amazing "seats."

I don't like the new guitarist. He plays too many notes - too much "shredding" for what I perceive a Gregg show to be. I think a more tasteful approach would suit the band better.

Everyone else was on point, though. Great stuff outta those guys, and outta Gregg, who was subdued but soulful.

Excellent show! The new songs were great, the rearranged Allman Brothers songs were a treat, and the Warren sit in pushed it over the top!!! The cherry on top was finally getting to meet Effie, one of my favorite peeps from the board and his lovely wife for the first time in person!

I concur with everything Effie said in his review. Just love Gregg's soulful version of 'Just Like A Woman' and the version of 'Dreams' with Warren sitting in was off the charts. Also loved 'Melissa' with Jay Collins playing flute!

Also great hanging with one of my bros Doug during the show and chatting with old and new friends beforehand. Finally, a big thanks to Alan for guiding me to a much more pleasant subway ride back to Penn Station than my trip to the venue. Beyond me why StopHop would give such confusing directions and have me running around changing trains when a two block walk made it a quick and direct trip back to Penn???

I don't have too much to add to what's has already been said. This was my first Bowery Ballroom experience and it was a good one. Nice venue, nice laid back staff and good sound.

The band has found its groove over the last few years and is playing well together. I loved the interplay between Warren, Jay and Scott on Dreams. I also enjoyed the new stuff, and even Floyd was in top form, all making for a great night of music. It was a welcome change of pace from the bombastic style of Gregg's other band.

I saw Greg Allman & Friends twice now. The time before was two years ago at the Blender Thr. on 23rd. St. in Manhattan.
Both times the 'other' keyboard player was crazy good.
A friend told me he saw him in another band. What's the guys name and what other band did/does he play in?

He has also sat in with Gregg's "other" band and regularly plays with Jaimoe's Jasssz Band, when the touring schedules do not conflict.

I agree with what everyone said. It was great hanging out with everybody though I would have liked to meet Chank. I want to publicly thank Pete for the ticket since I hadn't intended to go but am glad I did. Warren is always a treat and his work on Dreams was great. Gregg's band is excellent. I like them all. Bruce Katz is an excellent pianist. And Melissa with flute was a nice switch. The new songs sound pretty good and I look forward to picking up the new album shortly.

Thanks guys!

I saw a lot of mini-cameras taking pics and maybe mini-vids.
I haven't seen any vids posted on Youtube yet.

I wonder if a recording will surface of this or any GA&F show?
I wasn't standing in a good spot if I was recording. I was between two loud clappers all night. And during Whipping Post I had a moron right behind me howling the words as if his balls were being yanked in a vise. Why do I always get the freakin' morons around me?
