Without a doubt, Ian Gillan.
Amazing vocal performances on In Rock, Fireball, Machine Head,
Made in Japan; solo records like Glory Road, Future Shock,
Clear Air Turbulence, Mr, Universe, and his performance
on Sabbath's Born Again is pretty cool too. I've seen
Deep Purple in concert many times.

lots of great singers mentioned here.

My favorite is Doug Pinnick of King's X. Great Bass Player also.

John Wetton with King Crimson is another worthy mention.

My favorite Ian Gillan vocal performance is 'Mitzi Dupre' from the "House of the Blue Light" Deep Purple album. Gives me chills. I also love his Toolbox solo album. Great album! When I first got that CD, I don't think it left my CD player for 3 weeks.
