Anyone else as excited about this as me? Amazing new line up, new original music and Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy played in it's entirety.

Check out some footage from the first rehearsal and brief interviews from Chick Corea and Lenny White here:

Very cool. I saw the Return to Forever reunion in 2008 with the classic
Corea/Clarke/White/Di Meola line-up in Boston. Apparently, they may have had a
falling out with Al Di Meola, as he's not involved this time around.
Ponty and Gambale are great musicians. And Hymn to the Seventh
Galaxy is a great album.

Yeah I think a lot of that has to do with the whole "World Sinfonia" thing that Al is doing now. He seems to have turned his back on the fusion thing which is a shame because I'll take "Elegant Gypsy" or the RTF stuff with him over that any day of the week. Gambale is one of my favorites though, and having Jean Luc in there will bring a whole new dimension to the sound. I'm pretty new to this type of music since I'm only 19 and it was before my time (as with the ABB and just about everything else I listen to) so I didn't get to see the 08 tour but that DVD is one of my favorites.

Thanks for the info. I too saw the 08 show, and if this is only half as good as that, I'm in. It was incredible sitting at the feet of masters!

Sounds great. The band has an almost Mahavishnu Orchestra sound with jean Luc added

Oh boy, this looks interesting. Jamin' fusion! The addition of Ponty is BIG!

I saw two shows on the first reunion tour in the early 80's!

I'd rather have this line-up than no line-up and no tour. Gambale is awesome and Ponty too? I definitely want to see that. As long as they don't do any of the vocal stuff from Musicmagic I'll be happy. <<<<>>>> I shudder at the thought.

Can't wait.
i was also at the Boston 08 show. My face is still melted from that performance.
Definitely going to miss Meola, however Stanley Clarke steals the show in that band IMO. As long as he is back with Chic no chance i miss!

Why is it a shame would u rather have him just be there with RTF and not give it his all or bring in someone who will. To me his new project isn't him going away from fusion it is expanding the idea of what fusion can be. Also would love to see a RTF show

Always liked Return To Forever. Even though the lineup witl Al DiMeola was the one that was the most well known, it seemed to me that the guitar slot was the one slot that was expendable So, having yet another guitarist isn't the "deal breaker" for me. (actually, I liked Bill Connors' style with RTF moreso than DiMeola)

Having Jean-Luc Ponty join is MAJOR! Always liked his stuff (have about 5 or 6 of his albums, plus the two or three Mahavishnu Orchestra ones he was on). Going to be really interesting hearing him with RTF!!!

Loved DiMeola with RTF in '08, but he doesn't want the gig. Ponty, Gambale and new music more than makes up for his absence, in my humble opinion. Can't wait to see some US shows announced.

Probably the only constant in the career of Return To Forever (essentially it's
Chick's project) and also the most fascinating is the revolving cast of
musicians. The Corea/Clarke/White/Di Meola line up may have been the
most well known, but the other line-ups were quite good too. I love
the album "Light as a Feather," and recently bought the expanded remaster
of it. It sounds great. Line-up is Corea/Clarke/Farrell/Moreira/Purin.

Some US dates are now trickling out, including MA and San Diego (a co-bill w/ ZPZ, nice!).

I'll say this: If you go to see ANY band which has Chick Corea in it, it's going to be very good. I've seen him in so many different formats, and he's consistently tremendous. One of the very best of the best of contemporary musicians.

Got my tickets for that show. Excellent double bill. I think Ponty played in FZ's band at one time. Would be cool if he came out with ZPZ for a song.

Amen. He elevates everything he is involved with.
