This may be old news but I hadn't read thru any of the threads regarding the topic as I had no intention of going to the Beacon this year.

But I got one of those automated emails from ticketmaster reminding me of this "upcoming event".

$170 for a ticket?!?! For the back of the orchestra. On a Tuesday. Wow.

Unreal. I don't begrudge the ABB to get whatever they can for a ticket as I believe in the free market, but this is unreal. The fact that there are tix still available should be telling. As well as the small number of shows scheduled this year. At least they didn't have to make up a BS "family emergency" story to cancel shows as they did last year.

Makes me wonder about the ABB management.

Having said that, I sure hope everyone going enjoys their show(s).

The back of the Orch on Tues is only $106 ($116 Thu-Sat shows). It is only the first 15 rows or so (and loge) at the $170 level.

Good luck even finding a pair of tix at $170 in Orch, which tells me the market says they are worth it Management has done its job to maximize revenue.

If anyone is having buyer's remorse over a pair of 3-11 Orchs at $170, send me a PM!

Well, look at it this way: ABB is worth it. One hell of a lot more than paying $250 to see Britney Spears in a basketball arena.

This is a TRUE story: Britney Spears played the local basketball arena (actually hockey arena), HP Pavilion in San Jose, about two years ago. In the review in the local paper, it was stated that when first addressing the crowd after her third song, she said, "Helllooooooo, SACRAMENTO!!!!!" That's right, just like the TV commercial.

Lodge seats also are $170.
A couple years ago the seats in this section were around the $100 mark. I would buy for three shows.
At the higher price this year I bought for only one Tues. show.
The higher prices certainly factor in customers purchasing mutiple shows and the adding of additional shows.

Yeah, Moogis went up as well so I will be passing on it this year. So far I'm only attending one but hoping to score something for the HTN party date.

Who sets the ticket prices? Is it the artist or the venue?

The only thing that tells me is that the scalpers still believe they'll the return on investment. It doesn't speak at all to how many actual empty seats may exist. Personally, to pay $170+ TM fees brings the tickets close to $400, dinner, drinks, parking (sometimes), gas, tolls...just not worth $600 for a 3 hour concert. What are they thinking? I've got kids to raise. They'll get the $600. I'd rather do a family day of skiing for $600 than a wife & me 3 hour show.

I'm glad I did a few runs but with prices like this those days are over.
A weekend with hotel and 3 shows has got to be running close to $2000 if not more.

These tickets are 170, charges included. Not justifying the price, just don't want to blow this price thing out of proportion. Prices were the same for the first bunch of rows last year.
I, too, am disappointed about the huge loge upcharge. It will also keep me of from attending as many shows as I did in the past.

I'm really shocked about the vip bs. ALL of the best seats are being held for vip packs. There aren't too many "good" aftermarket tickets available, especially for weeknights. This blew up in the band's face last year and it could very well do the same this year. Fans are eventually going to say enough is enough.

Nice of you to be concerned about the scalpers' inventory, but the band has made their sales so management has done its job on pricing.

What are they thinking? That there are millions of single people that are not subject to the marriage doubling factor. 8 shows times 2800 seats are not that many for them to move at these prices.

I'm very glad I was able to go to the Beacon the four times I did: '03, '04, '06, and '07.

Ticket prices were in the same range for the recent show in DC, which is why I didn't go. No room in the budget for me...

eff croky!

Yeah it's not just the ticket prices but the cost of hotel and travel and gone up significantly when I started
going to the beacon in 2001.

And the cost of the Gregg Allman at the Rams head show puts it out of my reach. Was to be expected
in that intimate setting. and it sold out without my help.
