Chicago lost two brave firefighters this morning and others were hurt, some in critical condition. On a cold, snowy, morning, these men rushed out without a second thought to fight a fire in an abandoned building. Thinking there may be homeless people seeking shelter from the cold, they went in and then the roof collapsed. Heros, every one of them. Please keep the families of these brave men in your thoughts as they face the holiday season with the loss of their loved ones.

Good Lord....

Prayers to God for the families of these two heroes.

One of my friends at church, an EMS/first responder, went with us on our mission trip to Belize and shared one night that him making the mission trip was a miracle, in itself. Earlier in the week, he was fighting a house fire that started in the kitchen and was checking up the range hood pipe for hot spots and kept getting spark showers. He was standing in water and kept asking his captain why he was getting these spark showers. They found out later that the main power line into the house was grounding to the range hood pipe. James told us that based on what happened, he should have been electrocuted, but miraculously he wasn't.

I got to become better acquainted with James on that trip and we now consider ourselves "brothers." I can't imagine him not being on that mission trip with us, let alone not having him in church with us on Sunday.

Thank God for our fire fighters, EMS/first responders and police forces for keeping us safe.

Just heard that on the news, very sad. It is also the 100th anniversary(I think) of the stockyard fire in Chicago that killed 21 firefighters.

This hits pretty hard anytime of year but when it happens right before Christmas it is just so, so heartbreaking. These poor families and those brave men/women that do what they do day in and day out not knowing what the next day can bring. Many prayers of comfort to those families.

On Dec 3 1999 here in Mass we lost six Fire Fighters in an empty warehouse fire. One of the men lived next door to my brother.

May all the heros Rest In Peace!

When I lived on LI, we lived a half block from the fire station and us kids spent a lot of time there. Being a fireman was one of the fisrt things I wanted to be when I grew up...

God Bless those men who perished and the ones that are still in need of care.....

No one braver than firemen....
