I'm a HUGE fan of the Bob Dylan Christmas album. I also love the Chuck Leavell album ("What's In That Bag?") - just a fantastic record!

On a local level (Birmingham-a-lama!), I love the Schaeffer Eye Center Christmas record that was released several years ago. This one has performances by Jimmy Hall ("Silent Night), Scott Boyer, the late Topper Price and other local treasures.

I also love the jazz filled Peanuts Christmas music of Vince Guaraldi but when it comes to Christmas music my favorites are the old time crooners. All of the stuff I grew up with through the years. Singers like Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Burl Ives, Nat King Cole, Vaughn Monroe and those types of singers from that era.

The Vince Guaraldi Trio soundtrack to Charlie Brown's Christmas is still my #1 favorite Christmas album...but, I am a little bit twisted when it comes to "Christmas music"...when I discovered this guy, I found my niche:

Brian Setzer Orchestra - Ultimate Christmas Collection
Various Artists - Hot Jazz for a Cool Night (very nice selections of artists and tunes)
Lou Rawls - Merry Christmas Baby
Nat King Cole - Christmas
Tony Bennett with Count Basie's Big Band - A Swinging Christmas
Ella Fitzgerald - Ella Wishes You a Swinging Christmas (*sigh* ... this voice ...)

Another vote for the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack by The Vince Guaraldi Trio as my favorite. I'm also partial to the classic Christmas songs by Nat, Bing, Andy Williams, etc. Also enjoy the Mannheim Steamroller and Trans Siberian Orchestra Christmas albums. Another song that's caught my ear on the radio this year is Hey Santa by Carnie & Wendy Wilson. Don't know what it is about that song but I like it.

And Elvis' Christmas LP. His version of "Merry Christmas Baby" is probably my #1.

Nice call on The Band. Also a sucker for the old-timers.
