Twice today I have gotten a blue screen on my computer that said this:
STOP: C00004cc Unknown Hard Error: Unknown Hard Error
Does anyone know what causes this and how I can fix it? Any help would be appreciated, thanks. |

Stop viewing the viagra ads.......
Actually, you can usually do a search on Google for your error code or error message, but I tried and didn't get any search results.....sorry. ____________________

Click on "my computer" then right click on the C drive and click on properties then tools then hit error checking - every time I have done this I think I had to restart and then the disk check will run - see if that finds anything. You can also choose to do a system restore if you cannot figure out the problem - I have also done this numerous times over the years and never lost anything. |

There's got to be more to the error code than that since I can't find that one in any Microsoft error code list.
Are there any more codes following that in brackets? ____________________ All photos posted of family, friends, and places, including those of historic ABB value, by this poster are copyrighted by the poster, or posted by permission of the copywriter.

I did a system restore today and that did not help resolve the problem. I got another blue screen today with the following message:
STOP: C0001197 Unknown Hard Error

I'll bet its a corrupt DLL and you may have a virus.

Agree it's probably a corrupt DLL and/or virus or some other software problem. But just by outside chance, are you on a Dell Latitude D630 with the "upgraded" video card to the Nvidia Quadro? ____________________

Did you install any hardware recently? It sounds like a driver (.dll file) is corrupted. if you updated any drivers roll them back.
An easy way to run checkdisk:
go to Start, click Run, and type:
chkdsk /r
hit enter key
Choose "Y" when it asks if you want to check your drive on reboot and reboot. ____________________ Do not panic!

My computer is Compaq with Windows XP. Could Facebook be causing this? I have heard that you can get viruses from there. But, I wouldn't think that this is what's causing my problem with the blue screen. When my uncle comes here after Christmas, hopefully he can look at it since he knows more about computers then me. |

Do you have a virus scan program (internet security)? If all you have is the one that comes with the pre-loaded software when you buy the computer (ie. Defender) that is NOT enough. ____________________ "Mankind is a single nation" "Allah did not make you a single people so he could try you in what he gave you, to him you will all return, he will inform you where you differed". I've got my problem solved. I did a full PC recovery, got a new wireless antenna today & it is back working smoothly. My mom said that some viruses come from Facebook, so I have to limit the time I spend on there. I Didn't realize that you could get a virus from a simple message. |

Most likely a virus especially if it starts doing other things slowly and hangs often and has to be rebooted. Emails with multiple addresses are notorious culprits. Many of those inspirational, 'pass it along' emails are the worst. ____________________ "It's only rock n' roll but I like it"
