So the cats out of the bag. I just filled out my 10 favorite Mule songs 5 favorite covers and tried to come up with 5 songs that I would love to hear them cover... it was nearly impossible. Just curious what other people are thinking.

Here are my Five:

Bell Bottom Blues: Derek and the Dominos
It Makes No Difference: The Band
Loan me a Dime: Duane/Boz
Wiser Time: The Black Crowes
Forever Man: Eric Clapton

The first 2 were easy the last three were hard for me.

Anybody Else?

How about either Space Truckin' or Sweet Child In Time by Deep Purple?

Gotta check the Mulebase to see if they've already done 'em.....I bet they have.

Dazed and confused
Highway 61
Into the mystic
And it stoned me
The night they drove old Dixie down

So the ABB won't play them anymore

They cover Train Kept a Rollin' Played it in Boston 2 years ago and at Mountain Jam last year, not sure if there were any other times.
Great call on it because the boys absolutely rip that tune.

I believe they did this at a show at the Beacon a few years back. I will have to check. I am almost positive they did this at a show I attended; I'm thinking John Scofield sat in too. Great tune.

My five were (not sure if they have covered any of these):

Cruel World - Solomon Burke
Papa Don't Take No Mess - Brown
Deal - GD
Rocking Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flue - Meters
Oh Sweet Nuthin' - Velvet Underground

Wish I had room for a 6th, it would have been Atlantic City.

I gotta say, I think this is really cool that they are doing this, and allowing us to be contribute....

Be that as it may.....here's some tunes I would love to hear them cover and/or put their remarkable Mule stamp on....

1.) "Born On The Bayou" - Creedence Clearwater Revival. Mule did or was to do this tune for a John Fogerty/CCR Tribute Album back in the mid to late 1990's, but the album never came out, or the entire album project fell through at the last minute.

2.) "God Bless The Child" -Billie Holiday/Blood Sweat & Tears. Not only would Warren Haynes, just KILL this tune Vocally, that's kill in a good way folks, but I would love to see what arrangement they would come up with, and whether they would keep the Jazzy BST middle part? or take us somewhere completely different with it.

3.) "Laughing" or "These Eyes"-The Guess Who. I wouldn't really know what to expect musically from either of these, but I know Warren would find a way to make either of these really special.

4.) "Hair Of The Dog" - Nazareth. This one is right up their ally and I am not sure if they have done it before or not? Either way they would kick this tunes ass.

5.) "El Diablo" - ZZ Top. It's no secret the Mule loves old ZZ Top, and this one from Tejas, the Mule would do alot of justice too.

and 5 that they currently cover that I would vote for would be....

"Don't Step On The Grass Sam"
"Sad and Deep As You"
"She Said, She Said/Tomorrow Never Knows"
"Mr Big"
"Sneaking Sally Through The Alley" and/or "Sailin Shoes"
