And it still hurts.

We still love you... and we will always miss you John.

We are still moved by...and will always be moved by your incredible music.

You were a true artist in every sense of the word and beneath your sometimes cynical, sardonic personna, there was a fiery intelligence, a brilliant wit, a sensitive heart, and a genuine humanitarian who truly loved humankind and who wanted nothing more than for all of us to someday rise up above our pettiness and start to realize our awesome potential .

War is still over if we want it.

And all we ever need is love...

RIP John Winston Ono Lennon (1940-1980)

I was out in the Mojave, riding my Husqvarna 500 when it came on the radio.

A victim of fame and himself. Very very sad and tragic thing. RIP

Still one of the happy/sad days of my life.

As my wife went into labor with our daughter Lauren, we heard the news, after Lauren was born early in the morning of the 9th of December and I was walking out of the Hospital I heard Strawberry Fields Forever playing from the nurses station.

This is a sad day. sad day indeed!. This is one of the few .very few days in ones life that you remember exactly where you were when you learned the news..Just watched on ESPN a recollection of what went down that night and how Howard Cosell with .03 seconds left in the MNF game announced to the world the tragic and untimely death of John...Hard not to hurt and bring a tear or two to your eyes!! All we are saying is give peace a chance..We miss you MR. Lennon!!

Very sad day, and very senseless that so many people feel a void created by a confused kid. I miss the guy....

Words are flying out like
endless rain into a paper cup
They slither while they pass
They slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow waves of joy
are drifting thorough my open mind
Possessing and caressing me

Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Images of broken light which
dance before me like a million eyes
That call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a
restless wind inside a letter box
they tumble blindly as
they make their way across the universe

Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Sounds of laughter shades of life
are ringing through my open ears
exciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which
shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on across the universe

Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Jai guru deva
Jai guru deva

My first trip to the Beacon was maybe the most special weekend of my life. In 2003.
Part of the experience was walking over to Strawberry Fields with a group from here.
If this is to be your first Beacon, I suggest putting such a visit on your itinerary.
Rest in peace John Lennon.

Yes, one of those 'where were you' moments.

Me- in the dorm at VT, when somebody came running down the hall yelling "some guy just shot John Lennon!"; I turned onthe radio and Imagine was playing.

To this day, Happy Xmas(war is over) can bring me to tears because of the association with a cold and awful December night.

One of those days where you can remember where you were, what you were doing when you heard the news. Thanks for the music which has been such a great part of the soundtrack to this girls life and rest peacefully, John Lennon.

So, I get in the truck to go to lunch and NPR is on. The announcer says "in the middle of all these observations on the anniversary of his death, we thought it would be nice just to hear a whole song by John Lennon."

Bless their hearts, they didn't go for the obvious. They played In My Life, which was the wedding song for Maggie and I. Just sat in my truck and wept for a few minutes.

I was with Tommy Talton at The Harvest Moon Saloon in Atlanta that Monday night and we were both very upset by the news. I remember Tommy telling me that night which songs were Lennon's and which were Paul's. He knew alot about the Beatle's music.
Hard to believe it's been 30 years.
Now, where is that AARP application I keep meaning to fill out? Came in the mail last week.

I've been getting those for 3 years and haven't opened one yet, Tinsley.

God Bless John Lennon.
