My favorite new blues artist would be Joe Bonamassa or The Black Keys. What is your favorite "newer" blues musician? Feel free to name more than one unknown blues Musicians you know of.

I'll go with Sean Chambers because he's pretty new to me. I also like Eric Steckel - he's relatively new to me as well.

Good choices.
Try Michael Burks if you have never heard him.

Thanks, Ed. I'll have to check him out. I usually find out about new people from Sirius/XM Bluesville. If I really like a song and don't know who it's by, I'll check the name out. I love that they display the name of the artist and the title of the song. Being that I live in north central to northeast Iowa, I'd wither away without satellite radio. The only thing around here is classic rock and hideous country/pop music.

I was starting to like Sean Costello before his untimely and tragic passing. I still can't believe he is gone.

If you like harmonica blues, Chris O'Leary band is really good. Chris used to play with Levon Helm. Moreland & Arbuckle are pretty damned good too.

I agree. Joe is the real deal and requires a listen if you have never heard him.

The smokingest blues album that I've come across in the last few years - easily - is "The Record" by Burnside Exploration.

Joe Bonamassa is far and above my favorite. Seconds for Matt Schofield and Sean Chambers. New to me, not yet mentioned are Bill Perry, Chris Duarte, Eric Gales and Joanne Shaw Taylor.

Good call. Also Lightnin' Malcolm and Cedric Burnside (2 Man Wrecking Crew)...you gotta see them if you have the chance.

Davy Knowles, leader of Back Door Slam.

Best young guitar chops out there, bar none, IMHO. GREAT, soulful blues voice, and a pretty good songwriter, too. He's probably about 23 years old at this point.

He's the only guy I've been really excited about in this genre in some time.

Check out Chris Duarte's cd Texas Sugar/Strat Magik - it's been around for awhile.

Jason Ricci. He was really one of last year's blues revelations over here in Europe but unfortunally his band New Blood disbanded. Liked the guitar player a lot too.

am i allowed to mention john mayer when he comes to his senses and makes the john mayer trio his full-time gig? i gotta think that's what he'll do once he no longer wants to satisfy the 15 year old girls.

Mayer isn't "newer". I've heard him on the smooth jazz channel for a couple years now!
