I haven't seen it yet so this is a treat for me. Martin Scorcese has a way with captuting live music on film.

VH1 also had "Let's Spend the Night Together" which I remember being in the theatres but never got a chance to see. This movie was filmed at Giants Stadium during their 1981 tour.

This movie never the received the high regard that GIMME SHELTER or LADIES AND GENTLEMEN received. The early 80s showed the Stones at a different stage of their career, obviously going through the motions of a typical stadium show. Mick Jagger in spandex, Keith Richards and his eternal cigarette hanging from his mouth. Bill Wyman in a jogging suit. It's all so 80s but a lot of fun

I saw "Let's Spend the Night Together" on TCM not too long ago(I think it was over the summer). It was painful to watch; and I'm a big Stones fan. But this is all in retrospect! I remember the Tattoo You tour. At the time, I thought they looked great. Three decades later, the footage from that tour makes me cringe.

It struck me very peculiar with all the youngsters (obviously planted)in the first few rows. Do they really think they're fooling us to believe that 18-30-something kids are attending Stones shows?? C-mon, that's their grandparents music! I thought it was weird how the producers (or whoever) put the "kids" in there.
Yiour comment Hugh about the sound being good...I rented this dvd and recall thinking how horrible the sound was. WAY compressed, LOUD, and distorted from being maximized so much. Oh well, to each his own, but I thought the sound was atrocious.

Oh, give the younger folks a little more credit. There's tons of younger music fans out there that know their stuff.

Isn't the one true test of greatness when it comes to music is the timelessness of it?

I teach plenty of teens who love classic rock more than modern stuff. I was sort of that way myself 20 years back!

As for "Let's Spend the Night Together," once you take it for what it is and get used to it, it has some good moments. I despised it (and "Still Life") when it came out, but time heals all wounds...
