I love Warren Haynes ,,, I love Derick Trucks,,, I love Greg Allman....I love the band
PLEASE BRING DICKY BACK! Its sad to have him not in the line up.
As a veteran of many ABS shows... ITs just not right without Mr. Betts.
Dicky is one of the badest dudes to ever strap one on... bring him back before its too late!

Brent, you are new here. Alot of us "old timers" to the site have discussed this subject to death and beyond. We now have two great bands to listen to. Go to www.dickeybetts.com as Dickey has his own band and they tour often and sound great. That website is also "linked" to the main site here. To your upper left, click on "home". It will take you to the main Hittin the Web site. Look for Dickey Betts and Great Southern and click on and it will take you there as well. Enjoy!

now i'm not sure of all the details of the kickin dickey out....somethin bout being a bad influence or a drunk or whatnot, but I have a feeling, and correct me if Im wrong, that dickey and gregg arent too fond of each other anymore anyway.

A. Abb wouldnt be fun to see if there was tension between the members
B. Warren and derek sound about 1000X better (no offense to the big guy, i mean his guitaring is great, but warren and derek are just incredible)
C. I'd rather have 2 great bands to see, so I can see that kind of show in my city double the amount as with just one band touring.

Let's face it...dickey aint coming back unless there's some kind of final reunion abb show and again i may be wrong, if dickey and gregg make amends.

This is an old horse. Dickey will never play with them again on a full time basis. However, as time goes by and old wounds heal, I think he will probably sit in with them again someday.

Oh I forgot one: Gregg

Okay I can't take it anymore, I have to comment on this tired horse of a subject. I've never really given 2 cents worth on it in all this time.
I've read things that say 'in any condition Betts couldn't make the cut in this group...' or 'Haynes abilities far exceed those of the removed Dickey Betts...' or 'with phenom Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes the Brothers have the most powerful lineup since...' etc, etc...
Who wants to hear crap like that? Not me. That's not taking into consideration that the whole can exceed the sum of the parts. Now, understand that I'm not saying that those above statements I'd read are NOT true, nor am I saying they ARE. I'm just saying that the guy fit the group for all those years now you have to read sh*t like that? What's that all about? The guy fit the group musically. Period. Again-don't get me wrong-not saying that Warren and Derek don't-just saying that I don't like to see things like that written. I love Hittin' The Note and I support both bands. The current lineup smokes and I love it! I take what music they give me, I don't worry about who's in and who's out, because I'm sure nobody in the bands are concerned how I did at work today, who I disagreed with, etc. They do what they have to do with the workings of their band & if I like the music I support it and purchase it if not I just listen to something else.
That said I really enjoy HTN. But I also love that earlier era with Haynes & Betts. Actually, I love all of it (although for some reason I don't know where I was from like '97-'99..somehow I wasn't into an ABB phase then, didn't see them those years) right from the start.
I also see it from each side of this thing. I can understand some wondering how it could be ABB without a longtime member like Dickey, but then I hear the new album and think 'well the band seems happy and inspired and this album is great'. Other times I hear 'An Evening With.....' and get really bummed out he's not around. Oh well, and so it goes. Change is certain STRUGGLE is an OPTION.

For how many months did this topic appear on the forum? I think Betts will probably sit in with the band some place and some time, but I don't Betts will ever be full time with the ABB again. A very sad day when I first heard that Betts had left the group.

I don't think we'll ever see Dickey sit in with the other Brothers now. I feel the damage is done and I say this sadly because if they can't be together full time I'd like to see them bury the hatchett (and not in each others backs) to someday play together again. Times change, people change...but there is a huge family of bands all born from the ABB. I can and will enjoy them all at my discretion and pleasure.
