"We’ll probably have our answer on Monday, when the band, MSG Entertainment and the concert production company Live Nation have called an 11 a.m. news conference at the Beacon, the band’s former – and maybe future? – homestead."

Ok, so here is my prediction.
First show March 10th and last show March 26.
13 nights total.
That will cover:
3/10 Anniversary of Beacon run
3/12 40th Anniversary of Live at Fillmore East
3/26 42nd Anniversary of the Allman Brothers Band

I think that's a good bet, Ed.

I hope they aren't stupid enough to put tickets up for sale before the holidays. I can't spring for anything like that until at least January. If they put them up before Christmas I'll have to wait for scraps and if I don't like them I'll just have to pass. Just horrible timing to start selling before the holidays. Oh well.

I don't think they've ever gone onsale until January, have they? It will be nice to know dates for travel planning though.

What are the odds you think they'll play three weeks of shows this year? Do you think last year's shortened, 2-week stint was more a product of Washington Heights or of the economy? I sure hope it was the location because if they hold it their normal time, e.g. starting the second weekend in March, I will only be able to go if they play a third weekend of shows (or start a week earlier I guess). Keeping my fingers crossed.

If the past is any predictor, they won't announce the full run until tickets sales justify more than the initial announcement. The theater is booked for Jeff Beck on 3/28, so they have the be done by then.

Oh they definitely have put tickets on sale right before Christmas. In 2002 they went on sale on December 5. I recall the date because I was helping deliver my granddaughter

But for the last 5 years or so we had our presale in January, so I think that is the new calendar they go by.

We have never been to the Beacon and we might have to knock this one off our bucketlist of shows next year. We crossed off Red Rocks this year and we want to make it out to both Coast next year. We figured Furthur on the West coast and the ABB on the east coast. Wanee would be really nice, but due to work, that is a tough one for us to make. We will have to see where the dates land and the ticket prices.

Yup, ticket buyers were sick of the prices and heading uptown.
