I know there was a previous thread on this but I couldn't find it. On my ride home today I was skipping around the channels when I came across Henry Mancini's "Peter Gunn". As I listened I couldn't help but think what the band could do with this tune. The rythum section drives thi song and Warren and Derek could create havoc with thr horn parts. It would be a very interesting selection. What do you think?

Someone Suggested I've Got A Feeling Warren could kill that tune I am hoping for Win Loe or Draw, Can't Take It With You, Try It one more time and Can't Lose What You Never Had to come out of mothballs...

Since Can't Lose What You Never Had is taken... 32-20 Blues? And bring back Sailin' 'Cross the Devil's Sea.

I'd love to hear them do the B.B. King Medley a la Hourglass. I said this last year and it didn't happen, but who knows?

I'll step forward & claim my credit for that one, phillybob - I'm hoping that the people who matter saw this too!

I like the While My Guitar Gently Weeps suggestion too - having heard the Phil & Friends version on 11/30/01 (the day after George H passed on), I KNOW that Warren can do the vocals justice & I can only imagine what sort of duel Warren & Derek could strike up in the playout...

In Lee's honor I believe they should play "Rockin Horse" both acoustically and a 20 minute electric version at the same show...you will then be a Rockin Horse convert my friend!

I made this suggestion a while back but I believe The Stones "Moonlight Mile" is tailor made for Gregory to sing and Derek to perform a little slide magic on the outro...Yep, this one gets my vote...Butch?

You guys are too kind. I don't think that's a good idea though cuz if Sang makes it to the Beacon, then I'd be in the beer line for far too long and would soon run out of $$$.

I've always thought the ABB could do a stellar version of "I Know You Rider". After versions from Janis, the Dead, Hot Tuna, and others, they should give it a go. Unless they already have and I missed it.

Pair it with "Layla" as the Dead does with "China Cat Sunflower".

I Know You Rider wouldn't surprise me. Mule did it last month in Chicago and it smoked!

My vote is Morning Dew.

I remember years ago, they did a poll to decide what old tune to revive. I think the winner was Stand Back, and it's still in the sets today. That'd be a cool experiment to repeat.

Morning Dew would work as well. Hell, even Jack Straw, with Greg and Warren sharing the vocals would be epic.

Basically the ABB could make nearly anything sound fantastic.

What about "I am Woman. Hear me Roar"?

LOL!

Note my use of the adverb, "nearly". Still, I'd take it over the original.

I've got it: "Try a Little Tenderness". Just imagine Gregg's soulful vocal potential on this, mixed in with Derek's teases throughout, while slowly building to the climactic ending, like Al Green or Otis Redding do it. They could tear this up for sure.

They did "loving you too long" with horn's at the beacon last year. Any
Otis song would be great with the horns again.

I think they should try someting out of left field, like some Devo or The Buggles
just to see where it goes.

Peace
John

I'd love to hear them do "Loan Me A Dime" again. Gregg was just killer on that. I've also considered a couple of Mancini tunes as do-able. "Peter Gunn", "Pink Panther". Panther is cool because it's got that slow start that Derek could just WASTE. I also think they could do a good workup of "Fanfare For The Common Man."

If it's coming out of left field, then it has to be Zappa in response to the Whipping Post cover he did.
