LOL... THis is just meant for some fun is all...

I'd go with Mike Lawler... The guy's contributions are just awful! I can't imagine how they could have EVER let that guy in the band, even if it WAS the 80's... YIKES!

I always thought Mike looked out of place with the Brothers and he really did not fit in...I wonder who's idea that was. But what I did not know is all the Musicians he has worked and played with. Most are country music stars such as: John Anderson, Garth Brooks, Chet Atkins, Roseanne Cash, Charlie Daniels Band, Billy Ray Cyruss, Crystal Gayle, Waylon Jennings, George Jones,Reba Mcintyre, Kenny Rogers,Conway Twitty, Hank Jr., Tanya Tucker plus at least 10 to 15 others....he's played for J.J. Cale, Stevie Winwood..Delbert Mclinton and even worked with James Brown....Daaaammmnnn that dudes been busy.
I know most of it is studio work...but still..he's been around....even a little guitar playing...but mostly synthesizer.

I guess if the Brothers asked me...i'd get up there with a tamborine or brown jug..just to get a chance to play with the greatest musicians to ever grace a stage.

Just thought I add a little positve note to the Mike Lawler thing....but he did seem out of place !

Later good people,
Kenny

I really liked Zakk's "Pride and Glory" CD...I just recently got the "Zakk goes Wylde" show and as much as I like Zakk..he did over do it a bit. At times it's sounds as if he actually was trying to take off and leave the band behind. Here he had the chance to sit in with the Greatest Band ever to grace a stage and his big old ego got in the way.

Jimmy Herring and Jack Pearson sure did sound good when they played with the Band though.

Later Folks,
Kenny

That's really not what was going on, exuberant is just how he is...Butch has said that Zakk was thrilled to play with the ABB. Stylistically, he wasn't a fit, that's all.

I have a copy of the Zakk Wylde show, there are times when Zakk's playing is downright comedic in the ABB structure, there are times when the fit is almost brilliant, however. As an historical piece, this show is a must-have for hardcore ABB afficianados.

gotta agree, the first few songs are very strange, but as the show goes on ZW is slowly modifying his playing to fit better. it's not terrible, just really different.[Edited on 5/28/2002 by aiq]

The whole bunch is pretty pitiful. One thing I thought was completely out of place was that handheld piano/guitar hybrid synth that he played. It felt like the Allmans meet ELP. Besides, the blues were not meant to be played with synthesizers. Robert Johnson would be rolling over in his grave.

Worst thing I ever heard with the ABB was Johnny Neal (at least I THINK it was him) singing One Way Out. Ouch!

Hi Folks,

abb1550....it was August 1st, 1993 when the Zakk attack joined with the Brothers for a show. Don't feel left out...I did not know about it until about a year ago.

Maybe I made it sound to bad...because I do enjoy listening to it every so often. Zakk showed on his "Pride and Glory" cd that he can mellow a bit and play some Southern Rock Guitar. Any of you that have never heard that cd(Pride and Glory)..it's really good...Zakk comes out sounding like Ricky Medlocke and Blackfoot.

And like someone else here said...Maybe Zakk was just real excited to be part of the best in the biz....I know I would..haha.

Later Good People,
Kenny

Cher may have been weird and all, but she did care alot about Gregg...She wasn't trying to mess up anything really with the ABB. She wasn't a bad influence for him and didn't try to butt into bands business. Just a thought. :-)

He was not a band member but the worst thing I ever saw personally at a show was when Don Phrickin' Johnson came on stage at Shoreline Amp near San Francisco wearing a Red Blazer to sing Ramblin' Man acting like it was his gig and he was in the band!!

.........oh my was he a first calss jackass with no respect or grace.

my choice: Cher

I guess I'll comment on this old one too...

Mike Lawler only really bothered me on the synth. His piano is fine on like "Things You Used to Do". But I think there was more working against the Brothers at that point in time. Yes, the synth solos are AWFUL, the key-tar thing is even worse, but Butch & "Frankie" didn't exactly come close to gelling the way Butch & Jaimoe did either. So the band was just sort of a mess at that time. - Gregg was not singing his best, or his sober-ist.
