if not just for this quote alone on Rajon Rondo's game Sat....
"He got the popcorn man involved, he got the announcer involved, he got everyone involved. It was beautiful to watch." - Paul Pierce, after 10 pts., 10 reb. & twenty four assists

still, you can't overexpect right now -- we'll soon enough see the effect of Kendrick's absence -- they're old as the hills but so was last year's team & they almost did it -- Perkins' return will spell out a lot -- whatever he makes it's not enough -- he does all the dirty work & he's had injuries before (shoulder etc.)

but hey -- what about Wall in Wash. w/Arenas & those guys -- w/Varajeo starting & other new players could the Cavies in a way be bettah off...what about the K-bockers, w/Amare S. & a new team -- what if anything will be left of TMac's game in Det -- how long will it be before Yao's comeback is derailed by injury

it all induces a yawn here -- I don't start really following it until later in the season anyways -- but, as always, Go Celts

Tonight Gilbert Arenas got hot and hit 4 threes late to pull the Wiz within 4 of the knicks, but the wiz couldn't get out of their own way with 22 turnovers.

Knicks just over 50% for the game. too many layups off turnovers.

AFAIK Gilbert didn't shoot anyone.

John Wall looked great in the home opener 28 points, 13 assists , 9 steals, just missing a triple double and
the Wiz won in overtime on Wednesday.

The NBA bores me but with John Wall and Demarcus Cousins playing I'm going to try pay a little attention to the NBA

The Celtics, Jazz & nugs all on TV next couple nights...
& all three in the same boat, ie, IF the O'Neals & Ermin can hold down the fort until a completely healthy Kendrick returns...
IF Denver's reserves can do the same until KMart & the Birdman return
...& IF the Jazzes are playing up to their potential when Mehmet Okur returns from his surgery...

Big Al J. now w/Utah, a Very Interesting roster this season, w/CJ Miles & Ronnie Price still coming in off the bench -- if they stayed healthy & were going good when Okur returned, well damn -- I'll guess 55 wins & the title in a tough Northwest this year for Utah

IMO, anytime the Celtics are on TV, it is worth a look just to see what Rajon Rondo's doing -- I'm telling ya it's like music, sometimes you just like to key in one one instrument to listen to -- well it's the same for Rondo -- It Is All Him when they have the basketball -- but watch him on the defensive end too -- he's a great anticipator & help-outer when the ball is inside -- in short, let him not get injured -- when he's in triple-double land, we don't lose

How long with the Heat be able to claim "work in progress"? Great players, but dysfunctional team.

I used to see Rondo play when he was a Soph and JR in high school before he went to Oak Hill. He has certainly matured a lot since those days.

John Wall a triple double the other night

Noticed that -- crazy game for Love -- first time since 32/37 for Moses Malone in 1982
rarefied air indeed on the hoop courts -- what about Utah, 4 straight road wins, overcoming double digit deficits in the second half of all 4 -- that's playing hard hoops
yep, Memphis tonite -- rock on boys --

I watched the Utah last night. Very impressive indeed. Read this morning that Love only had 7 points in the 3rd quarter when he told Michael Beasley he was going for 30. But he meant rebounds!

Can't wait until Perkins gets back and this team is really going to soar when West becomes available next week. Rondo and the Big 3 have been almost off the charts good. They'll need it as the Lakers are extremely impressive.

just some early season observations...

love the warriors & wolves--fun teams....

..Lakers & Celts are the 2 premier teams--they play like teams--tough "D".move the ball.great coaches,a bunch of unselfish all-stars & HOFamers,etc.,etc....

so far, utah & new orleans are impressive,my Knicks seem stinky so far

& the heat...well...they suck....the game is simple--play "D",close up the middle, substitute wisely, move the ball, minimize the dribbling & advance the ball, get someone in the low post, crash the boards, hit the open man,run when possible & get upcourt quickly, set picks, have everyone moving with purpose in the offense, keep it basic, simple & fundamental team BB....

don't whine,be patient, show leadership(THE STARS),act maturely & show character(don't whine about playing 44 minutes--hes a young fella--big effin' deal!!),involve Bosh in a meaningful way(teach him defense),tell 'bron to stop dribbling so darn much....move the darn ball...all basics of team ball...& lacking in every area for the heat....

Love was awesome last nite--so were Durant & Westbrook....

Pau Gasol,Chris Paul,Rose,Durant,Rondo,Ray Allen,Garnett,K..playing great.....

so far,Amare appears to have limited skills & is half the talent without Nash.....

dwight howard learned more offensive inside moves in a summer from hakeem than 3 years(of shooting jump shots ) from coach ewing dwight remains, however,a limited offensive player...

Wall looking pretty good...

hmmm -- a bench of ex-NO Hornet Peja S., ex-Sun Leandro Barbosa, and ex-nug Linas Klieza makes things most interesting for the T. Raptors -- in a weak conference they have a good chance to rise out of the muck & give the Celtics some business in the Atlantic -- they were the better team Sat. w/their starters likie Bargnani, Calderon, DeRozan & all them getting it done -- it was only 102-101 but they still were the better team that day...

a potentially lethal team IMO who could be there with the 4 good teams -- the Celts
...Orlando......
Miami?????
ATLANTA????????? --- hands down our best game of the season last night -- 39-13 After The First Quarter -- Way To Fill In, Nate Robinson, & get back soon, Rajon Rondo

hey, maybe it's not just the Raptiz -- the AP lead to Indiana's game w/LA last night is perfect

"LOS ANGELES -- If Roy Hibbert and the Indiana Pacers keep knocking off the NBA's biggest names, it might not be too long before these youngsters are right up there with the superstars they're beating."

it comes from out of nowhere for the Paciz, that's for sure -- they've been wailin' -- it looks like there's hope for another former east. conf. doormat, da Bulls, too -- word is, Ronnie Brewer and Kyle Korver have told Carlos Boozer, their ex-Utah Jazz teammate -- they've said, man a frontcourt of you, Noah and Deng, w/Rose in the backcourt & the general rotation..." they've told him, "it's an easier schedule in this conference -- if we really get going this club could get up to the level we played at in Utah...we should be able to win our division easy..."

Now that the Bulls actually have a real head coach who seems to have a plan and can actually teach (Good luck Clippers you will really need it with Vinnie Del Clueless) they should be much improved. Paxson going out on a long limb and hiring the unqualified Del Negro to begin with set Derrick Roses development back 2 years.

First time in forever they actually had a winning record on the long western "circus" road trip

I bet the Clippers fire him half way through the season.

A 1/4 of the way thru the season & things stacking up to form, same as in previous seasons -- Boston & nobody in the Atlantic, LA & nobody in the Pacific...

...basically it's Boston LA & Orlando at the top of the heap, followed by that same cluster of teams in the west conf -- the difference is, it's a wasteland below Boston & Orlando in the east, while there's again like six teams ready to topple LA
("you read it here first -- LA will not be the west conf. team in the finals next spring")

...hold on though hotshot -- what's this -- break up the Knickybox, they've won 9 of 10 -- neither Chicago or Indiana have 10 wins yet, but they've played better & gotten some good wins too -- why, w/teams like Atlanta, Toronto maybe ready to improve -- maybe there's movement in the moribund east that has been mired in mediocrity for so long

everyone talks about Miami's Big 3 bla bla, but Chicago has its own Big 3/4 or whatever, now -- with a full roster, and both Boston & Orlando now out of the way for awhile, I think da Bulls will start to dominate the easy part of their schedule -- it will almost certainly be the same for Miami too, the talent is too deep there

but compare the won-lost record of the six teams below LA, vs. those below Bos/Orl -- the west, way above .500 -- from the Spurs (15-3) to the nugs (12-6) -- while the east -- a 180 the other way

what about George Karl though -- it's a great accomplishment to return to any job after the operation/treatments for throat cancer that he took over the summer -- in his job, he yells a lot, travels a lot & manages the egos of a locker room full of millionaire jocks -- the man deserves all the credit in the world

word is, workouts & rehab going well for Kenyon Martin after his summer surgery -- this is basically the last fling for KMart, if he can come back after the All Star break & play at his level -- word is, workouts & rehab going well, he wants to get back -- keep that squad together at least for this season -- he, Chris Andersen and Nene have all had major surgeries (Birdman's bad back is back 12/8) -- but you know those guys are mad-motivated to play their butts off for Karl
as always, when healthy & together, the mile-high sky only is the limit for the Denver Nuggets -- they play in the most competitive conference anywhere & it was all out on display on the tube last night -- the Jazz & Dallas came into that game on 7 game winning streaks -- they threw bombs at each other but Dallas quieted that big crowd down the stretch -- IMO the Lakiz could not have played with either team last night

& the boys are playing at a real high level too -- the team of recent years has always started out great, now let's see how those ancient bodies hold up -- Rondo, 19 assists last night -- KG has been on a good roll the last couple of weeks
GO CELTICS -- I love ya -- first game, a doubleheada at the Gahden w/the H.G-trotiz opening against the Wash. Generals & Red Klotz

Steve Somers said it best the other night on the Fan radio -- "the Knicks are worthy of your undivided attrention!" The K-box do not look like a flash in the pan -- Celtics fans are watching nervously

even the Sixiz -- they've won 5 of 7 --

I do believe Miami is in 1st place to stay though -- forget the Big 3 BS, Erick Dampier was a Good acquisition for this club -- not because he's an All Star but w/him & Big Z they have two huge centers who can wear you down -- it gives them Many options --

it is getting Interesting in that div w/Miami, Orlando & Atlanta -- & it's the same w/that game tonite between two others who are up & coming in the east, Indy-Chicago -- it's good to see things improving in the east conf

the Celtics can beat Miami At Full Strength -- the fact that they going good this depleted shows what a good coach Rivers is -- Paul Pierce deserves to be mentioned w/the all time Celtics, He Never Misses A Game -- get back quick Shaquille, Jermaine & most of all, KPerk -- Delonte West, hope that arm is healing bro -- that was a terrible injury
