Heard this band on Jam On yesterday during a drive and thought they were pretty awesome. I had no idea that Melvin kept the JGB going and was still touring. His guitar player sounds and plays just like Jerry... I was pretty impressed.
Anyway, I looked up their tour schedule and saw they were playing Harpers Ferry in Allston this week and I am thinking about going. Has anybody ever saw this band live? Are they worth checking out?
I am almost certain that I am going to go, unless people here have a different opinion. Let me know!

Melvin played with Jerry when Jerry was doing his side projects. Melvin kind of kept JGB together after Jerry passed away. I saw JGB with Jerry, and it was special. JGB post Jerry is still worth seeing. Melvin's a talented keyboard player and kind of plays like the sound of Booker T. Not sure who the players are currently. I believe last time I saw them Don Baldwin (formerly with Elvin Bishop, Mikey Thomas, etc.) was on drums. Melvin had good musicians in the band. It's worth checking out.

absolutely check them out. we see them every time through Denver. great chops. kimock has sat in a couple of times, as well. check out 12/30/08 on archive.org.

In a similar vein, Zero played three shows back in Jan 2007 I think. Martin was still alive and Melvin on keys. The second night"s Cole's Law opener crushed for 30 minutes with huge fills from the Big Man. Donna Jean sat in for a few tunes that night.
