He is playing near by in a few weeks and I can get $10 lawn seats. So I was wondering if he is worth going to see live?

I've never seen him, but I enjoy his music and would gladly pay $10 be catch a show. A buddy of mine recently saw him and said it was a "pretty good" show.

He ain't no rock n roller for sure but if your tastes are broad enough to enjoy class Country/Americana, you'll have a blast. Man's a true American treasure IMO. He routinely has stellar players with him....is he solo or with his Big Band? Either way I've seen him in each context this past 12 months and awesome each time.
Go see the man. $10 hell......
Enjoy!

I saw him and his large band about 10/15 years ago,and he put on one of the best shows I've seen.

I may have seen a show from the same tour. Rickie Lee Jones shared the bill with him and they took turns opening. He opened the show I saw and he was incredible as was the Large Band.

For $10.00 you can't go wrong IMHO...

Looks like his three shows this month are all with Lyle's Large Band. ABSOLUTELY go. Do yourself a huge favor and buy "Live in Texas," a wonderful record from the 1990s - he still plays most of these songs live.

Lyle is also very generous on streaming audio on his myspace page. The "It's not Big, It's Large Album" from 2007 will give you a recent picture of how they'll sound. I have not heard his most recent one from 2009.

(it does not appear that vocalist Francine Reed is part of the Large Band this year, but I believe Leland Sklar is on bass fwiw)

I would pay $10 to see Lyle Lovett for sure. Saw him open for Sting one year and he was wonderful!

Lyle Lovett and his Large Band is a MUST see and hear! I have to say (and have told others) that hearing him and his large band was the number one show I went to last year I had no idea how great it was going to be - 1st class show in every way! GO

Lyle opened for Bonnie Raitt many years ago at a really cool outdoor venue in San Diego called Humphrey's. I was VERY impressed and would definitely see him again.

Lyle is one of the best country artists out there. His songs aren't dumbed down, truck, prison...etc country songs. He has one of the tighest backup bands around and they deliver the goods. I've seen him twice and I'd see him again without thinking about it
