Not sure why I even go on Ratdogs site. Some of those people have no clue about music. Very negative toward Warren. The idiot who posted the following is quite the ahole:

"A lot of people would have been better than Warren, he just doesn't fit with GD music.
His guitar sound sucks and he can't sing worth sh?t.
I can't even get into Allman Bros after '89 because of him except for when he was gone in 97 but other than that I don't jam any ABB with him in it. I did see a few ABB shows because of when Ratdog toured with them but usually went to the lot halfway through ABB set.
I just can't deal with the repetitive wah-wah sound of his guitar or his 'trying to fart while singing sounding' voice. The dude is over-rated and should stick with the Mule. Let the Mule fans enjoy him."

To quote Archie Bunker when talking to Michael Stivic. You my friend are a MEATHEAD. Dead from the neck up.

no point getting upset--we all have different taste--remind him,that at one point in time Garcia was considering tossing Weir overboard for his crummy guitar playing--Jerry was a tolerant man & accepted his singing The usual GD inertia prevented Jerry(& Phil i believe too) from acting on the impulse....as for ratdog.....yuck....& Warren actually played very differently with the dead--he softened & sweetened his guitar tone & his singing blended nicely.His singing,in fact,made it tolerable to listen to Weir on that tour

OH....i forgot to mention--probably best to stay away from ratdog music....it rarely bathes.....

Now I've heard everything, Ratdog fan complaining about Warren's voice???

Weir is now doing his best Bob Dylan "How bad can I sound?" impression.

Dog fans get the best drugs I guess.

who cares? Everyone thinks their own favorite band is the best and has the best.

I guarantee you if you go on to a Bon Jovi site people are going to say that Sambora is the best guitarist in the biz...... I guarantee you if you go on to a Poison site people are going to say that C.C. Deville is the best guitarist in the biz. And anyone else would be dissed.

Life is too short to care about stuff like that.

wise words--that's why,for the last year or so,i've really wondered why people get all crazed if you don't like "their"favorite band or musician....human nature to be defensive i guess...at the least,i find people are loyal

People are adults and this is a free country and people have a right to their opinions.

And you have a right not to read anything you don't like.

~~~~~
Edited because I sounded so harsh, using the word admonish, but it is the truth. I've seen people comment about other people's comments. One guy just wrote he didn't like a show. And then someone comments don't say that on the Mule FB page. You can't control other people's opinions. In fact I think when people get admonished they tend not to want to comment again and I think that is the worst part, quelling a free exchange of ideas.
I know you just want to protect Warren and the band but I think they can handle it. Since Warren has worked with the Dead there has been a loud minority of people who say they don't like Warren with the band. Both on the RD and Phil boards. You can't control it. If you have something to add to the conversation that is fine, but believe me they aren't going to change their opinions. People tend to have their opinions and it is the rare person who has an open mind about other ways of looking at things.
But take heart, most GD fans are into Warren and the last tour with them in 09 has added to the Mule fan base. Now all that has to happen is that the long term fans open their arms to new fans, make them feel welcome.
There is no race here regarding who gets to win the fans. Fans who like live music tend to like most live music so there isn't a limited number of fans out there that they have to be fought over.
You would think Matt Abts would have better things to do than post on a Ratdog site.....
I regularly read other boards to see what people are thinking for my information. It is not uncommon Brock. There are a lot of nice posts about Warren on the Dave Matthews board. A few negative but overall the DMB fans tend to write positively about him and the Mule.
You have to also remember one thing when doing this, that not one board actually represents the full range of the opinions in a fan base. I go to a show and see hundreds and even thousands of fans that never go on the internet for a discussion. People who do are in the minority and that is true for any band.
The RD board like most others, has their usual suspects. Many of whom are on the board all day. Most of the discussions are between the same people. And I notice the same people saying negative or positive things about any subject over and over again. They are like cliques of young people hanging out in the school yard. Or small sub groups of people (friends) at a show. Nothing unusual about that.
BTW, I find the RD and Phil people to be exceptionally gracious at a show. I've seen Mule fans push and shove each other (and worse), especially at the rail. Not sure what to make of that, but think it has to do with the type of music. Mule music is hard and GD music is lighter and I think that is where some the difference lies and why not every GD fan likes Mule.
But many do so try not to alienate them but saying the words of the few are the opinions of the many.
You have to keep in mind that these are people who actually like the music and sound of rat dog. SO take it for what it is worth.
Funny. My experience is the opposite. I always find the FaMuley at the rail to be exceptionally gracious and easy going. I have found die hards of other bands including the GD offshoots and especially Umphrey's McGee to be really pushy.
An excellent point.
I agree whole heartedly. I've only seen Ratdog once, and it was not by choice. I thought it was just hideous. Then the ABB came on.....Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
The reality is that many Grateful Dead fans just can't get past anyone other than Jerry in the lead role. There are many that don't care for Furthur? I am just happy that they continue to play, let alone who is in the fat man role? I love Warren in everything that he does. I am just grateful that the music is still being played live and that I get the chance to hear it.
The road does not go on forever. I'll take it any way I can get it .
LOL!!! OK - this amused me. I'm a BIG Grateful Dead fan and have enjoyed some Ratdog shows but come on ... dissing Warren Haynes singing/guitar on a site devoted to Bob Weir and his singing/guitar. Ummmm - ok. (and this is, of course, IMO and I respect anybodies right to their own musical tastes but this is not the first time I've heard about anti-ABB comments from the .... Ratheads?)
