Well, we're almost finished packing the last few boxes of Instant Live CDs. What an incredible experience the last few weeks have been - what an incredible time to be an Allman Brothers fan! There is more new product available now than ever before - 2003 was indeed a watershed year! We have downloaded, entered, processed, packed and shipped over 10,000 CDs this past month. Kind of blows the previous record away - thanks to you and the ABB! We learned a lot in the process, made a few mistakes and really appreciated your kind patience.

I can't tell you how much we empathized with all of the hungry, enthusiastic, anxious fans that called or e-mailed to check on their order. Your passion for the music is amazing and I'm sure that's why the band feeds off of your fever at the shows! Hittin' the Note, indeed! All of us here are just like you...we wore those CDs out listening to them while we worked. They really are amazing performances and we wanted to get them to you as bad as you wanted them!

Due to the constraints of our ordering system we had to make a decision on how we allocated our people resources during this past month. We tried to keep up with the phone calls and e-mails but realized that if we were to get this product to you ASAP we would not be able to provide you with the level of communication that was deserved. We did the best that we could and hired additional help that is now very well trained to handle the holiday rush. Please also remember that we moved from Macon to Atlanta and completed issue #40 over the last ten weeks. I'm really proud of our staff and extremely appreciative of the hours they worked - they care about you, the music and the musicians more than you can imagine.

Regarding reprints, once we hear what the decision makers have to say we will pass it on. Please remember that the Allman Brothers Band and Clear Channel were breaking new ground with this concept. Many of the issues involved in reprinting these CD were never contemplated in the original contract so please be understanding as others work through the resolution.

Over the next few weeks we will focus on communicating with those who orders were not filled. If there are reprints, we will fill your orders first.

As always, we welcome your input.

Thank you again for your orders and your patience with us as we grow.

Best Regards,

JNB

As of 11-20-03 we've got about 15 Indy shows left for sale and that's all. Just wanted to give a heads up to the fine folks here on the forum.

I'm enjoying my Instant Live CD's. JNB, any discussions yet on what the band might do next year in this area?

The comments I have heard are very positive about doing this again during the summer tour, but (sigh) not during the Beacon run.

Monday was my lucky day.

Got a huge deer AND my Instant Live shows arrived in the mail.

Thanks JNB. I'm sure you put in a ton of hours on all this.

First of all: JnB and the rest of the staff at KGE thanks a lot for all the hard labor.
The Instant Live cd's sound quality is absolutely fabulous. I hope they will return next year.

BTW I have the following question:

How many copies of each of the six releases were made (including and excluding the
initial copies sold at the venues)?
Since all but one show is sold out (only about 20 left of the Indy show) and about 10.000 copies were made in total i'm just curious.

I have to say that I'm very disappointed in the way all of this was handled.
Given the fact that others (esp the Dead) have done this before, I expected
Kid Glove to be more prepared. It does not appear to me than any preparation
was made to handle the increase in order volume (surely not a surprise to anyone)
and the limited quanity of the items available.

The complete lack of communication (partial orders filled with no explanation,
complete orders not filled with no communication) and the inability of the ordering
system to track inventory, resulting in orders being placed when items where
no longer available is completely unacceptable.

I don't think I will be participating in the "holiday rush".

I disagree that this is "uncharted territory", the Dead charted it earlier this year
(with similiar results). I don't have a problem with the fact that quantities were
limited, but this should have been an indication to Kid Glove that the order volume
would spike and that the order system needed to track inventory.

Also, you might want to take Pittsburgh and Darien Lake off of the
web page since it seems that I can still order them.

You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people, all of the time ....

Speaking for myself, I appreciate the effort, and am enjoying the shows I got .... When I called to ask about my order, the person I spoke to couldn't have been nicer and was very helpful .....

I will continue to support this band and Kid Glove !!!

Gimme a break!

First 5 posts are bitchin' about Kid Glove.

Yeah, the Dead have done this before. Kid Glove didn't handle those shows, did they?
How many times did JNB say that they focused on filling orders rather than answering emails?

All in all, I think they did a good job with what faced them. Would you triple your staff in anticipation of increased business, if you had no idea how much, if any, it would actually change? And put out a magazine at the same time?

Find a better use for your posts.

Obviously you don't follow the trading sites too closey there comet... the Dead not only sent out Junk cd's to alot of folks that had to wait on replacement, they didn't have that fancy an art work , and they edited for content... if you wanted the Dylan from atlanta, you better of had your mikes in the air cause the store bought copies didn't include him.

Grateful Dead Merchandising has been a money making scam for decades-- They should have gotten it out in days not weeks(not to mention that you couldn't buy and recieve at the show). The fact that these shows were offered in limited quanities makes them a collectable-- If you didn't get in , then your SOL-- order sooner-- As for the dead, they'll still take your money.

Not knocking the Dead at all, just that they been doing this mercandiding thing alot longer than Kid Glove, and still had problems. If you ain't got nothing nice to say then go say it elsewhere

To me, the biggest difference between the Dead shows & the ABB shows being sold was the sound quality... The Dead soundboards were pretty flat at times and there was hardly any separation. The ABB soundboards were bright and beautiful...

I call recording shows and making the first batch of Instant Live cd's available approx. 10 minutes after the show definitly "uncharted territory" and unprecedented.
They did a great job. At the beginning there were no plans ventilated concerning the online selling of these shows. So it's fantastic that it did happen. Such a rush on new merchandise was a new experience for the staff of KGE and kind of took them by suprise.
Sure some things could have been handled better but they made a big effort in making the best of it and learned a lot. So let's hope for a new series of ABB shows recorded in the summer of 2004 and things will run much smoother.
The 2 shows i ordered, and which i received yesterday, just blew me away.
I love these shows made available by tapers (they are doing a great job as well) but these
Instant Live shows are a different ball game. the lead vocals and the drums & percussion are so crystal clear. They all have a fantastic live vibe (the audience is perfectly in the overall mix). Praise, praise.

BTW Clear channell Instant Live will be pushing the limit even futhur next year.
They signed an exlusive deal with the 2004 Summer Reunion Tour of Mili Vanilli !!
The first batch of the 6 shows planned for release at the venues will be available
10 minutes before the show starts !!!!!

PhotoRon, I''ll decide the content of my posts, not you.
(BTW, your assertion that my first 5 posts were "bitchin'" about
Kid Glove is incorrect)

As far as not posting negative items here, these are my opinions,
I'm entitled to them and I'm entitled to post them here, positive
or negative.

We truly are guilty of having a very out-of-date ordering and billing system and are not happy with the inconveniences it created for our customers - we want the best for you as well and are currently working on improvements. However, if we had waited until the system was upgraded, Instant Live would have been put on sale in 2004.

We really appreciate all the kind comments folks have made and we understand the negative ones as well. There were mistakes made and customers have been inconvenienced - and we are bothered by that and want to improve! At the same time, we accomplished a lot more good than bad and our dawg tired bones find some joy in that. We did the best that we could...and sincerely apologize for what we couldn't get done this go round.

Charlotte, Raleigh and Hartford sold out within the first few hours they were put on sale. As we mentioned on our e-mail blast - there were very limited quantities of these (only a hundred to two hundred each of these available, unfortunately order #13257 didn't make it in time). There were around 750-1000 each of Indy, Pitts and Darien Lake available. With three CDs in each package and Stonybrook and Atlanta Pop selling like crazy you can see how we reached 10,000 CDs shipped in the past four weeks.

Again, thank you all for your orders and your patience.

Best Regards,

JNB

Hmmm. Four weeks equals 40 x 4 business hours, or 160 hours. Ten thousand CDs divided by 160 equals 62.5 CDs per hour or more than one per minute. And all this while putting out Issue Number 40 as well? I'm floored!

Joe, Kid Glove could not have done this without you -- I love you, brother!
