Dickey injured his finger last night and tried super glue but had to stop tonights show to fix the repair job.He was in alot of pain but was determined to put on a great show and he sure did.One of the many reasons I love Dickey!

I hear ya man.And to think Butch has the balls to say he'd kick Betts ass.Well he really doesn't have the balls, cause he won't say it to Dickeys face.Betts would be all over Trucks like a buzz saw on jet fuel. And Butchy knows it all too well.
I remember a coupla years back when Betts broke his hand/wrist.He was in a lotta pain an had it wrapped in an ace bandage.Even though he'd broke it that afternoon, and it was swelled & purple. The cat in the hat still went on & gave it hell.

I guess that was supposed to be a joke about the glue but I love Dickey too much to let that unfunny joke w/o a response. One of the big things that hit me last night was that from the first note it was clear Dickey was really in alot of pain but he only arank one beer on stage last night and was clear as a bell until the last note of the encore. From the front row I was able to watch how he intentially interacted with the audience and he was very alert and engaging. If the was ever a time to have a good excuse to drink, last night would have surely been less physically painful for Dickey if he would have dulled the hurtin'
with booze but HE DID NOT.Dickey really wanted to give us a great show and HE DELIVERED BIG TIME!

I think that Dickey has proven a thousand times before he can fight his own battles.

He was sportin' a "band-aid" on what seems to me a *very* important finger! (left hand ring-finger)

<< sending healing vibes to that magical finger >> Get well soon, Dickey !

Peace.

Dickey could play with two fingers and be terrific. Or just play slide all nite..works for me.
Get well soon Dickey.
Low comment about sniffing glue, show some semblance of respect

Well, I won't drop names but multiple peeps from here who attended last night's show referred to it as a train wreck with Dickey missing cues, messing up lyrics, and leaving the stage for a long period of time. If that is when he was attending to his finger problem it is understandable. They said he even messed up 'Blue Sky' which is hard to believe. I wasn't there so I'm going by second hand reviews but I trust the people who told me this.

Nobody said he was drinking a lot or anything like that but said they were just sloppy as hell, especially Dickey. If it was a finger problem I hope it heals up quickly. Going by the reviews here it's obvious that people have very different opinions about what is good and what isn't. To each their own I guess. For those who loved it good for you. For those of you who didn't like it just do like I do and don't go to the shows anymore.

GS got three strikes and out from me after three bad shows on three different tours. Like I said different strokes for different folks but for me I'd rather put on a good live ABB record with Dickey on it and experience what got me into the ABB which was Dickey in his prime.

The weather was downright oppressive in New York City last night - not only hot but drizzly and humid as all get go. Just walking across Central Park West was enough to turn anyyone into a sweaty, miserable individual.
The venue was pretty but the a/c was totally inadequate; the acoustics were terrible; the PA system was totally off (I couldn't hear Mike sing or play until the very last song); you could tell Dickey's finger was killing him before he even strapped on his guitar; I didn't see a beer in anybody's hand (and I was in the first row) 'cept for Andy.
I think everybody knew it was gonna be a disappointment - the band and audience alike - from the get go. Dickey did his damndest to pull it off but EVERYTHING was working against him. We all know he gets frustrated - last night, I don't blame him one whit.
How the band pulled out one good song - Jessica - no, it was more than good - it was sublime - was a miracle.
When it was over, all EVERYBODY wanted to do was get the hell out of there and take a shower. You win some, you lose some. All in all, however, I still had a great time but I was awfully relieved when that cold water hit me a little after midnight.

That sucks about the a/c. I am a sweat monster so I'm sure I would have hated that. You aren't the only one to say the PA sucked. My friend texted me from the show and said that the PA was terrible but he also said the band wasn't very tight as well. Understandable I guess since they haven't been touring much. Here is a video from last night. The band actually doesn't sound too bad, maybe a bit rusty but to me Dickey's vocals are not good.

No one else initially crushed by the thread title and relieved to find out he is alive and well? No? Just me? Ok.

A 'thread-title-change' crossed my mind --- but it's not my thread! (maybe add "it")

Peace.

That thought briefly crossed my mind, but knew someone would have called or texted me or something. I would be completely devastated if that were the case. Very happy it's not.

2 observations from watching that video...

1 - From the looks of it, the band-aid on Dickey's ring finger looks to be covering the tip of his finger, making it very hard to use that finger to fret any notes with any kind of accuracy, and...

2 - Can Duane look anymore bored playing these songs?

I'm so terribly sorry if the title of this thread startled anyone, I thank you for bringin to my attention and I have added the sugested "it". Again, my deepest apologies as I want only to spread positive vibes and "killed " in my circle means absolutely good stuff so I feel really bad about any misunderstanding I may have caused.
It's so true that we all experience things differently ... I went from a sweltering one hour subway ride in to the venue and all night I kept thinking WoW, the a.c. really works great in here! So it really is a world of different perceptions.FRom my seat I could hear Mike's vocals on each song and I believe all were trying to "change it up" a bit.He definitely sang Statesboro differently than he usually does and I saw Dickey play around with Blue Sky in changing his vocals a bit which I dug.The PA system in that place is absolutely TERRIBLE, which I noticed at Dickey"s 65th
That's the venue's fault. I have seen Dickey when he has been "off" but I was really proud of him last night,I think he's taking risks with changing up the tunes and arrangements he's been doing "standard" all these years and I love him even more for that.Perhaps folks thought it was "off" but I think Dickey is experimenting a bit and that's welcome as better late than never for me.
Sorry folks were disappointed by the show but I was sure surrounded by alot of very happy excited people, all thanks to Mr.Dickey Betts.Such a cool guy at 65!

I have no musical ability but can only imagine that a finger injury might hamper playing a guitar. The music clp sure does not sound like the DBGS that I saw last year. Here is hoping that it was just an off night for Dickey and the Band.
