Why did fans on this siite have to raise funds to erect the barrier at Duanes's and BO's grave siite ? Where was Dickey, Butch, Jaimoe, Chuck, and Especiially Gregg then ???

Glad I didn't get a tatoo on my leg !!!!

Because Y is a crooked letter.

This is an old debate and no one knows the real story except the principals, so ask them.

There's plenty of brother and sister hood here and at the shows which is where it counts.

Plus, adults don't ask people about why other people don't do this or that with their money.

And like I said, who knows what the band did or did not contribute to the fence or any other effort related to the grave site. Anyone who says they do is a person who thinks they know. Though they may not know.

Finally, I think there was a real concrete display of brotherhood and sisterhood when fans made a contribution to the fence and when local people (fans) organized the effort.

So if you are going to ask about this situation, try a different angle. It may generate a real conversation and not finger pointing by a lot of people who don't know squat.

Squat is what it would have cost Gregg, Jaimoe, and Butch from ONE show to pay for that fence. Had it been my brother ( especially if he were responsible for my fortune) there would have NEVER been a public fund raising appeal for the need !!!

Find your own way to celebrate the loved ones in your life that you have lost, and let other people grieve and remember in their own ways.

I lost 2 aunts and an uncle in the past year, and I don't care how anyone else grieves for them, and no one has the right to tell me how I should grieve for them.

My point, springer, is that just because the band did not join in on a memorial/ tribute that some fans really wanted, it certainly does not mean that the band did not have their own way of remembering or memorializing.
Again I'll say that each person should find his/her own way to grieve and NOT force choices onto others.

Otie.......The natural course of life is that we bury out elders. Thats all. It's common to all people. It's a sad day but it hardly compares to loosing a child. Especially with so many young men and women in the Armed Forces.

56 Studebaker, if you had had any credibility before, you lost it with this post. Maybe you want to play some game of "Who's had it worst" - I don't. I was only mentioning the past year. You don't know the rest of my life, nor do you need to know it.

How desperate are you to force your opinions on others? You rag on the Allmans for not being as "caring" as you want them to be - then you attempt to rub my loss in my face? You can't have it both ways. Troll.

Jim _ It's the Circlle Of Life- no disrepect intentended. I apologize, 2 aunts and an unclle ? I'm the eldest child in my family. I have been attendending funeral services for aunts and uncles since I was 10 years old. It's just the natural course of things.

Maybe the grave sites hold no speciial memaning for them. I buried my beautiful wife 3 years ago (July 16th) and have never visited the cemetery (nothing in there but an empty shell). On the other hand her Mom always visits the grave site. It holds a very deep maaning for her. I am very grateful that she does not judge my actions of honoring and remembering my wife! Why the heck are fans of a band casting stones at how grown men handle their business?

I hear ya, Studebaker. I'm 43 and have had plenty of deaths in the family as well as those of friends. But my loss is not the point. Here is the point: I referenced my own experience only because if someone else had come up to me and told me "Here is how you have to memorialize Uncle Frank," I would have told them to kiss off. I have my own way of remembering and celebrating.

Likewise, I don't think fans should tell the Allmans how they should memorialize Duane or Berry. They probably have their own ways, ones that they may not share with others.

I think those two statements agree with each other. Enjoy the music, forget the other crap.

Best post in this train wreck.

I don't equate Kirk with the band, I look at him as someone who was smart enough to beat a bunch of derelict drug users out of a bunch of money. Then they got sober and realized guitar strings and drumsticks were moneymakers. So they questioned this guy who was so LOYAL to them and found out the sock drawer got robbed.

Next question.

Thank You !!!!!!!

My dicks longer than your dick.

What's with the quoting. Are you planning on suing someone? Or maybe you think that makes people follow along better.

Dougrhon why would you let anyone here stop you from enjoying the people and conversations you do enjoy?

Ok I'll admit I would like to know what happened with Kirk, but I doubt anyone has the real story, just what you think is the real story, why I bet even Gregg and Kirk differ about what the real story is.

Again, the fans getting together to help pay for the fence is to me THE VERY ACT of Brotherhood. so Troll, go trolling with at least something that makes sense.

As for the fence it is up. And I hear they make good neighbors. Keeps everybody's business where it should be. In their own back yard.

Could be a great idea, except for the fact that the "people" (read: TROLLS) around here who most deserve to have their asses kicked NEVER go to shows.

As a relative newcomer here, a few things amaze and amuse me:

I'm amused at the amount of venom some posters carry around with them... it takes so much time and energy to keep that fire stoked, leaves you exhausted for everything else -- like the most important stuff: the best music, friendships, tending your buzz, good food, summer parties, campfires, trout streams, rivers, mountains, outdoor shows... the list goes on and on.

If I spent every waking hour nursing grudges like some of these folks I couldn't make it through a day.

Some of these guys act like the Allmans ran over their puppy.

If that's the case, why waste your anger here -- use your time and energy to file a lawsuit and get enough of a settlement to buy a new puppy or pony.

Otherwise, I just can't fathom all the angst.

Eat a peach fer chrissakes. Or a handful of mushrooms
