the new issue of HTN has started to ship; look for our cover story on Derek and Susan's new band, as well as features on moe., Daryl Hall, Peter Frampton, Nugs.net, the second part of our interview with Thom Doucette, plus the artwork of Yonrico Scott - think there is some pretty good reading in this one! - enjoy

Hi, JL ...
I look forward to #65 - but have a question.
What ever happened to the new/lengthy interview w/ Gregg that was mentioned a few issues ago as "coming next/soon"? Has it been delayed -- or scrapped? Or, did I just dream it, perhaps?

No, you didn't dream that; it's still going to happen - we're going to run the interview in conjunction with the release of Gregg's solo record, which has been pushed back while he recovers - appreciate your interest in it!

I thought that might be the case -- and it makes a lot of sense, of course. Just "checking" to make sure I did not imagine it. <g>

It sounds as though Gregg is making good progress in his recovery, which is absolutely wonderful news. Amazing, isn't it how positive/upbeat he was and how good his shows were leading up to this MAJOR surgery. I don't know how good -- or ill -- he felt but he sure kept the focus on the music. The man is a true road warrior. He should be able to tour in support of the record, which would be a huge treat, as will the article on him when it shows up.

THANKS.

Rest assured, when Gregg's record comes out we will be all over it In the meantime, let's all pray for Gregg's speedy recovery.

Hittin' the Note may have grown beyond being an Allmans fanzine, but at the same time, we will never forget our roots, and you can always count on us for coverage of the ABB family.

The subscriber copies mailed directly from the printer, and were sent out Friday by Buik Mail.

The Roadsongs copies will mail out tomorrow from our office via First Class Mail.

Given the "head start" the subscription copies had, and the fact that bulk mail is slower, they should probably arrive around the same time.

Always look forward to HTN. It's like an old friend. And it has turned plenty of frowns upside down when I've spied it on the coffe table coming home after a hard days work.

Nice offer, Dan! Way to spread the wealth I'm guessing you ordered the Derek Trucks Band live album, and got an extra copy because of that.

Anybody else received theirs? I'm happy to hear that it seems to be getting out there quicker this time around.

As for Rico's art, sorry if it's not your cup of tea Shavian, but there is a whole school of similar folk art that does quite well, thank you. Howard Finster is probably the best-known example, Google him and see what comes up. Very reminiscent of Yonrico's work, in my humble layman's opinion.

However, Yonrico is a much better drummer than Finster I've never liked Finster's high-hat, and he is too sloppy with his snare work. Nice kick drum sound, though

I got the pre-sale version yesterday in great condition. What will my mailman think of my getting magazines in a plain brown wrapper?!

I still need to sit down with it a bit more but so far a good read!

Hey...that Marley Jay character-reviewer of the dTb's Roadsongs-feels very familiar to my ears! I would take his advice at the end and hit play again...and again....and again. *smile*
